I was looking at SMGLee's pics of Daniel Defense's SHOT display https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?p=564074#post564074 and noticed a carbine with a unique set of handguards. 4th pic from the top, the one with an ACOG that has what looks a lot like an A1 triangular handguard left in the microwave. :D Any info or conjecture on the design of these? I don't particularly care for the look but am wondering if they offer an advantage over the typical handguard or rail system.
