View Full Version : The CCW list...what do you rely on day after day?
I was just curious to see what everyone carried on a daily basis as their CCW??? You just never know what people like to tote around!
I carry a Glock 19...and a Ruger LCR in 357 Mag

Sig P229 .40 most of the time. Sig P232 if I need something significantly lighter and smaller for more discrete carry. The P232 also serves as my BUG on duty. I tried to split the difference with a P239, but I didn't find much of a difference in weight and size versus the P229 to warrant the loss of magazine capacity.

I carry a G17 w/X300 in a Safariland 6360 for duty and Tac, a G19 w/X300 in a Raven Concealment IWB for plainclothes, and either a G19 or G26 in either a Raven Concealment or Comptac for off duty depending on dress and occassion.
I also carry an Emerson M-wave fully serated 10-8 model.
G19 or 1911.
New M&P is proving worthy though. :)

Usually Walther P99. Occasionally a P99 Compact.
Dan Wesson CBOB in a Sparks VM-II iwb or Tucker HF1 owb,
or sometimes a
Glock 23 in a UBG Canute iwb or Sparks BN-55 owb.
The Glock is lighter than the steel 1911, but the bigger CBOB is actually easier to conceal. It's thin profile lets it ride closer to the body. That along with the bobbed mainspring housing makes it less likely to print. At least for me.
One of my next firearm purchases will be an Ultra Compact 1911 or a Dan Wesson CCO if I can swing it. The right holster for your body is important!

i'm sure that was done deliberately... All photos of HKs should be taken with top round backwards.

Just picked up a S&W 442 for the wife and installed some CT LG-405's on it, sweet little carry gun, disappears in front pocket, quick to draw, somewhat of a beast to shoot. I ran a cylinder of standard 130 FMJ target loads and went back to the more tame 10mm, the wife's a trooper she put 50 through it, with about 75% of them in the same hole at 7 yards. My current daily carry is a Ruger LCR loaded with Speer Gold Dot +P.
I was originally reticent about going with it, however I've had no issues in 800 or so rounds (100 of my carry load), and countless dry-firing. It's also the first carry gun I've had that's light enough for me to forget it's there, and controllable enough that I can shoot the thing accurately, and consistently.
My build and usual attire is not conducive to me carrying anything much larger than a J-frame or something Kel-Tec size, however I'm not sold on the reliability of some of the little auto loaders with JHP loads.
My daily carry; an S&W MP9mm stoked with Gold Dots and carried in an OWB holster made by K&D Holsters. Plus a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket 25ACP as a BUG. But every now and then when I want to go old school it is a Colt Python .357 mag made in 1971 sporting stag grips by Patrick Grasshorn with an S&W 360PD in .357 mag as a BUG.

I see a lot of people listing a gun, and nothing more. For me, a gun is a last-ditch resort, and I have other items I would use first, if applicable.
I carry a Fenix LD20 and a Kershaw Skyline.
I also carry the small metal container that the key-chain swiss-army knives come in. I started carrying it because I hated it when my gum got lint all over it and got all nasty, so I would put it in that case. I also have 2 spare batteries for the LD20 and a pair of earplugs. This keeps it all together, protected and organized. No searching through my entire pocket for something.
Along with this, I carry a stout ball-point pen. This can be used as a self-defense tool if need be. A stout pen makes a dangerous weapon.
Lastly, I carry a H&K P2000 in 9mm in a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2, with a spare mag.
My go-to tool is the Fenix LD20. It is utterly reliable and durable. Plenty bright enough to blind some one for 1-2 seconds during the day, and rugged enough to crack your skull. Even during the day, you never know when you might be in a dark place and desperately wishing you had a flashlight.
My every-day carry isnt a gun, it's a system. If I can use a tool that is non-lethal and still saves my bacon, I would prefer it.

Lately the off-duty guns have been my Glock 19 in a Galco copy of the Summer Special and S&W 638 in an ankle rig, Ranger-T in the G19 and Gold Dots in the snub, although I'll likely go back to the 642 as my go-to BUG.
G19 w/Bianchi iwb, and a NAA mini .22 mag in front right pocket, E2D in front left pocket, and ive took a step back and now i'm carrying a trusty Buck 112 in my back right. it was between the Benchmade Griptillian or the NAA in the front right, and the .22 mag won. why the Buck over the Benchmade in the back right? i guess im old fashioned.:D
M&P9 in K&D OWB holster on my side, Micro Desert Eagle 380ACP in front pocket, Strider Folder in other front pocket, Surefire E2D with TNV C5 replacment LED (puts out 250 lumens) in jacket pocket, and a monkey fist in other jacket pocket.

Springfield XD 9mm Subcompact. Took a couple of classes training with it got pretty good with irons, then got a crimson trace laser grips for it. Loaded with 13+1 Speer Gold Dots in a Crossbreed Supertuck Holster :D
HK P2000sk when wearing lighter clothing, HK45 when wearing heavier clothing.
Has been and for the next couple of days will continue to be a P229 (no rail) in 9mm in a MTAC IWB. As soon as I get some rounds through my new pistol to break-in/function check and get the new kydex holster body in I'll be switching to a M&P9c 9mm. Both stocked with either 124gr HST's or GoldDot's
Since the other gear was mentioned:
One of several blades (Kershaw Blur, Sypderco Delica, Benchmade Rift or others)
Surefire E1B or E2DL

Most of the time Glock 26 or Glock 19 in a Comp Tac Paddle or Kramer leather holster, sometimes a Glock 30SF/Glock 36 Hybrid in a Comp Tac Paddle with Winchester Ranger RA45T JHP's. It all depends how much my hand is hurting (suffering from "Trigger finger" in my left hand and thank G-D I am right handed).

I work plain clothes full time now, and on duty it's a G22 in a blade tech IWB, plus a S&W J frame on the ankle for easy draw when seated in a car on surveillance. I even carry the G22 when buying dop U.C. and it's never been seen. Off duty, I use the same holster with a G23 (the holster is the slide IWB model which holds any size Glock 9 or 40). I have considered picking up a G27 to lighten the load off duty. I also always carry at least one full reload on duty and off for my primary and back up. No backup when off duty, save an emmerson folder.
P30 9MM,USPC SS 40 or HK45. Whichever of the 3 I decide to take at any given time.
HK45, M&P9c and LCP are carried the most, with an occaisional outing with the P30 when I'm feeling frisky.
Glock 21SF on duty and most of the time off
Smith 340 as back up both on and off duty
GLock 19 when i need more concealment off duty
Springfield PRO 1911 when i feel the need
I have an April 1999 mfg Gen 2.5 Glock 26 that tends to get carried the most. Mainly because it's size, light weight, and convenience. My G23 and M&P9 usually stay home. It's kinda like that well worn leather baseball glove feeling I have for it. I got it in a trade around 2005 and it seemed to have a decent round count on it. I have put my fair share through it. It functions amazingly and is smooth. Plus a 100% reliability track record since I've had it. I've used aftermarket non-glock mags, 33rd mags, G19, G17 mags, and all types of ammo from mild, to +p+, surplus, and hard primers. It feeds and shoots everything, and it's accuracy hangs with the full size guns. It has seen tritium sights die off. It's my work horse CCW.

G22 in a Safariland holster on duty.
SW442 in a Renegade ankle holster as backup.
G19 in a Crossbreed supertuck off duty.
If I'm running around in gym shorts I carry the Ruger LCP with a belt clip.
In the US - G23, one spare magazine, G27, knife, flashlight, handcuffs, cell phones x 2
Outside the US - G19, two spare magazines, knife, flashlight, cell phone
I carry a 9mm overseas because of (a) ammunition availability and (b) it's issued, so if I have to dump it, I'm not out any money! Only reason I don't carry a G26 backup overseas is it's usually very difficult to get more than one concealed weapon approved per person when asking permission from the host nation.

And for the record I would like to say I carry my Ultra Death Bringer 2000 every day, but since I work in DC, I carry a pleasing demeanor and an angry look when needed. Well, I've settled down, somewhat... I've tried a lot of sub-compacts in my journey, from the Rohrbaugh R9, to Kahr P9 & PM9s, Ruger LCPs, NAA Guardian .380, the obligatory Glock 26/27, H&K P7M8, Kimber 1911 .45ACP Ultra Carry and most recently, my ill-fated plunge into a Taurus 738 TCP (gone hopefully to a better home...), but these 2 have been with me all along, like loyal friends and now I always have one, or both of them on my person -- a S&W 642-2 J-Frame .38 Special or an H&K P2000SK LEM in .40S&W.
Thanks,

Mostly a gen 2 Glock 19, sometimes I go back to a Kimber pre-series 2 stainless in cooler months. I feel comfortable carrying a G19 under a tee shirt and it is warm here most of the time. Threat Solutions UCR holster or Milt Sparks SS.

The 27 is more for a backup on duty, I don't like shooting it as much so I don't carry it as much.
I prefer to carry the 22 because it is more comfortable to shoot and I can get away with carrying a full size pistol under most of my t-shirts.
Glock 21sf w/ Extended/Threaded Lone Wolf barrel and Streamlight TLR-1 - shooting 230gr Federal HST is my daily carry, go to gun. Its a real joy to shoot.
Well hey jw hook us up with a picture of that 21SF! Don't tease us like that...
can do, just gotta figure out what I did with the camera..... haha
I'm pondering a 21SF right now, not sure if I should go for the RTF 2 and knock the points down a little with sandpaper or just get a regular grip. I'm interested in your Lone Wolf barrel too. I see that you can now get a Vickers extended mag release for the 20 and 21 as will which I will do if I buy one.

Why the switch from the P380 to the PM9?

I like my P380 but I'd much rather have the combo of my K9 with PM9 because of mag compatibility and the increased power I get from a 9mm over a .380. However, it is unfortunate that my PM9 does not fit in many of pants pockets so I am limited to the .380 or even a P32 when my clothes dictate.
I do not feel undergunned with the P380 as a BUG but the PM9 is much more comforting. One advantage of the P380 over the PM9 is that I can fire it MUCH faster.
[QUOTE=jwfuhrman;609037]heres my daily carry
Cool. I picked up a 21SF today...been on kind of a Glock kick lately. This one will probably be a nightstand pistol.

If you can find the 21SF RTF2 I'd get it for sure. I absolutely love it and I don't find the grip too aggressive at all.

Every once in a while I'll put it on OWB.
I'd like to get an IWB for it, but my holster budget sucks right now. I'd also really like to get an IWB for my P99 9mm, but Comp-Tac doesn't make one, I don't like Crossbreed, and I'm not patient enough to wait for anyone else to make me one.

Most of the time I don't carry the light on the gun simply because I don't use my kydex holster as IWB yet, need more belt clips.
Sometimes I carry a S&W 642 with Remington 130gr (I think) FMJ because I haven't had time or extra money for Gold Dot Short Barrel... Carry that in a Don Hume 001 front pocket holster or a DeSantis Belly Band if I use a holster. Most of the time I forgo both of those holsters and I just toss it in a pocket. I have two sets of Bianchi Speed Strips, so I carry one of those in the opposite pocket. Most of the time I wear the 642 in my front left pocket and my G19 is always 4 o'clock if I'm wearing it.

I carry a can of mace alot.
I carry an SR9c, works for me. I either carry in a Kholster/supertuck knockoff IWB, a bianchi OWB retention holster, or a desantis belly band when I'm in athletic shorts or sweats.
ETA carry ammo is speer gold dot 124 gr +p short barrel.
G19 has replaced my P30 and loaded with 147gr Fed HST +p.
Primarily G19 with +p+ Ranger or G23 with HST 165. Occasionally an HK P2000sk with the Ranger round or Speer 124gr.
Mostly, I carry my M&P 9, but the past few days, I've returned to carrying one of my Glock 19's. I load my 9mm carry guns with 147gr Golden Saber HP's, and carry them IWB, at 4:00 on the belt. I generally carry at least one extra magazine. At night, I wear a light jacket, and keep a Surefire X300 in my pocket, just in case. While it's doable, I just don't want to IWB the mounted light. I find it's easier to use a weapon light as a hand held, than it is to use a hand held light as a weapon light.
