View Full Version : Noveske owners, can Noveske rifles shoot 1/2" MOA consistantly?

I am looking at a new Recon Stainless 16" to buy. A person at the factory told me this gun would shoot 1/2" or better groups with match ammo. He said he has shot 3/8" with his gun.

Should I believe this or go with the Les Baer Ultimate rifle with the 1/2" guarantee.

What kind of groups do you shoot out of your Noveske? Which rifle, scope and ammo do you use?

Shouldn't be a problem at all with decent ammunition. The only ammo I haven't seen it group sub-moa with has been 62 and 55 grain ball of various mfg.

If you are a group junkie, build a group junkie gun (AKA "space gun" by the high-power folks). If you want something that is multi-purpose, accurate and reliable, buy a Noveske and buy it once.

Yes many Noveske's are that accurate. I used to own a Afghan upper, and it shot consistently in the 1/2" MOA range. I shot more than a few groups in the .3" range, too. However it depends on your ability, equipment selection, etc.

Just use good match ammo (Black Hills, Hornady, Federal), and try as many loads as possible to find one it likes. I personally have found that Black Hills red box 75GR OTM's to be the most consistent in a variety of barrels.

can YOU shoot half inch groups ?
can YOU do your part ? :p
Its been my experience that the nut behind the rifle is usually what the hold up.

just because the weapon can do it doesnt make it magically happen. ;)

Just curious, sounds like you already ordered said rifle according to this thread:

Also, don't know if you've seen these two (2) threads:

My Noveske Recon is a tack driver, more accurate than I am.

However, I'd check out this thread (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=32618), especially the post by Molon, for more information on the Recon's accuracy.

Um, yeah and I would cancel your order on that Baer and order one if you still can....

It's the nut behind the butt

The gun can shoot to that standard if you do your part.

Best advertisement for Noveske's Recce rifles that I have ever seen:

You are correct. The Les Baer is ordered. My dealer said I can cancel and get the Noveske if I choose to. I have until tomorrow afternoon to make my decision.

I can shoot .58" at 200 yards with my Remington 40X. This is a bolt action, not a semi. I hope I am up to it!

There is more to a weapon than accuracy, thankfully the Noveske weapons do everything else well also.

I have never shot a .5 MOA group with my Noveske, but I haven't done a true bag rest with an optic above 3.5x on it or ammo better than Prvi 75gr. That being said, I have never had a round land more than 1 MOA from my aim-point if I did my job, and this includes all kinds of sub-match ammo.

I would take a Noveske over pretty much anything else on the market, and the precision is only one aspect of which I judge the merits of a barrel.

Les Baer is way overpriced. Get a Novekse or a Noveske upper and drop it on a decent lower. I have faith in Recon upper, but I am not a group junkie so don't ask what my groups are.

well thats half the battle :p

I cant get half an inch out of my noveskes, but I attribute it to a mix of mounted optics and factory trigger still being... factory...

the weapons themselves are flawless machines.

What optics do you recommend?
I am looking at the 2 stage trigger that Noveske has as an option. Any thoughts?

My Noveske Recon has a Geissele SSA trigger in it - highly recommended. I think Noveske builds with those.

As for optics, that's a whole other discussion. What do you plan to use your rifle for? If you're after small groups, go with a variable scope with decent magnification...the usual suspects around here are NightForce NXS, Leupold MR/T or LR/T, etc...

That is the trigger I am looking at. Is yours the 2 stage trigger? How do you like it? What is the pull on the second stage?

Targets, coyotes, and in my closet for SD. I think I am going to get the LaRue QD mount so I can take the scope off when it sits in my closet.

Easily. My SPR rifle has a Noveske 18.5in barrel and with the 75gr BTHP Hornady Match ammo Im consistently getting sub-MOA groups at 100yrds(longest I have to shoot)

The best I've done with my Recce Lo-Pro N4 upper, NF 1x4 FC2 using Prvi 69gr is a 1.25" 5 round group, I need to try it with my SSA installed and better ammo.

Im not going to recommend optics for you. I run an aimpoint T1 and a Trijicon TR-24G on my two.
"I" cant get 1/2" groups with these optics.

I run Aimpoints on my Noveske rifles. If I shoot MOA at 100 yards, I am thrilled. Rarely do I bother. I like to Grip and Rip with those guns. I did recently buy a Nikon Monarch 2.5-10 for a quality all around optic. Check those out for quality / price balance. I plan to see what it can do at 100 yards (Mid length Noveske) but I have not been eager.

I bought Noveske for all the reasons, not just "groups". I really like the idea of barrel life more than anythiing.

what the others said. Cancel the Baer and get a Recon. I love mine.
