So I have a 6920 at work, and we can not change out the handguards (policy). I want to attach the afg, and I know that I've seen some rails that you can attach to stock handguards. The problem is that the afg needs 5" of rail. Can you put a 6" rail on the stock handguards? Thanks

Lots of places sell bolt on rails for standard handgaurds. The AFG takes up five slots, but only needs one slot to attach. You can buy a bolt up rail which will cover the entire underside of you handguards if you want.

This is what I have been using. Not because I needed it for the AFG but becoase it was in my parts box.

For what it is worth, I have my AFG on a 3" piece of rail on my mid-length standard style handguards, and itis rock solid.

YMMV.

Your department sounds as ignorant as mine, and for that, you have my sympathy.

Make sure you get something decent when you get the rails. The ones from Ergo should be good to go. The cheaper ones tend to shear at the worst times.
