I've got some 55g M193s and 62g SS109s that I want to load up in Lake City Brass. Powders are IMR 4198 and Ramshot Tac. Primer, CCI 400.

What's a good starting load for each of these that will cycle a 16" LMT? I'm just looking for blasting ammo.

I'd go with the Board's standard load of 24.5 grains of TAC behind the 55 gr FMJ bullet. You will get a lot of ammo per pound of powder, and it runs really well on a wide variety of gas systems.

It's not a hot load, but you'll get a lot of good running blasting ammo. You could also leave your powder setting at 24.5 for the ss109 bullets too. This would make the ss109 load a little hotter, but still well below max.

Great. Thanks. Any loads for the IMR 4198?

Did anyone try that load with 12.5" LMT Piston? Mine only seems to cycle 5.56 pressure ammo and hotter re-loads.

This comment isn't meant to stir shit, but....

I thought the idea of a piston was that it is supposed to be forgiving on ammo types.

I don't know of anyone trying this load on that exact set up, but the load seems to run good on a wide variety of gas lengths due to its slower burn rate.
