Hey guys I have been in the USAF for about 6 years and figured what the hell if this deployment is crap and or I come home I want to buy my first personal ar. Can anyone tell me a good place to get a KAC SR16 also where should I go to buy it what paperwork do I need and all. I just would like the clif notes to get an idea of what I need to do and how long from start to getting the ar in my hands.

If Im not mistaken, the SR-16 is a select fire, issue weapon, thus, a no-no for civis. What is available to the general public is the SR-15 line. Im not too sure if the rifle I see
here: http://www.knightarmco.com/images/sr15_1.html is widely available but the carbine definitely is.
Here's a link to Grant's old thread that I dug up. -- and this is rather old so get in touch with him for info on current availability.

Well, unless you are buying a rifle with a barrel/flash hider length under 16"(SBR) or will live in one of those states with Registration BS, the only paperwork would be the normal BATF4473 and instant background check.

2k is a lot for a first AR.

But I bought mine from Scottsdale Gun Club. You can also get them from Lawmens which is Knights store, MSTN, Gun Gallery in JAX, and a few other places.

Dont pay over 2k for one.

No federal registration on this weapon. What state are you in? Most states you just have to fill out the background check form (4473). Some liberal states have waiting periods and/or registration. Some you cannot buy an SR15.

Lol no I am currently a 3p051A I was a 2w131f and switched over I stuck with the handle since its my xbox handle lol. So all I need to do is go and fill the back ground check out? I thought I would need all kinds of paper work for a SR15 lol. I dont mind spending 2k on it since I would drop more into a normal style m4 for rail and stuff.
