I am currently starting a project of an 18" BCM that will be on a bipod for varminting and plinking at long distance. I am leaning toward the Leupold Mark AR 4-12x but I want you opinnons on what is good on that budget. With that in mind I like that this scope was made for 5.56 with the drop compensator and, I want mil-dot reticle!

Thanks in advance!

Here are some brands that would have reasonable optics in your range:

* Sightron (SII and Big Sky models)
* Vortex (Viper models -- I have the 6 - 20 x 44 mildot model from Scott at Liberty Optics, excellent!)
* Nikon (some Monarch and Buckmaster models)
* Bushnell (Elite models)

I have the Nikon Bushmaster 6x18 BDC w/ side focus for paralax on my 204. Pretty sweet, clear glass and picked it up for $380 shipped at Midwayusa. I'm sure you could find it cheaper if you shopped, and they have the recipical you want too. Not a bad price for want you get. Life time warrenty too.

All together, my Leupold VX-I 3-9x40mm scope in a LaRue mount cost me about $350...

What mount do you have your bipod on? I was looking into the Larue mount/Harris

I'm waiting on a new Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 to arrive. I'll mount it on my Bobro
B03-200-300 mount.

You might want to go to the SWFA site an check out the Super Sniper scopes. There is a 3-9 variable with FFP for about $600. Those scopes are built very well. They other scopes in that line that will definite fit you financial needs. Someone has already mentioned the Butshnell Elite 4200 and the Vortex Viper PST 1-4 power which not yet available for sale.

Just pull the trigger on the Leupold Mark AR 4-12x, it will do the job. I also like the higher magnification than 9x.
