Seeking information on use of an offset pivot pin to attach standard uppers onto large pin Colt lower.

Proper installation details Pitfalls?
Any details to avoid the possibility of damage to upper or lower receiver pivot lugs when installing or after installing when pivoting the 2 receivers for field stripping the upper.

Thanks

I just happened to be looking through the Brownell's catalog and they list adapters/pins/ bushings specifically for mating Colt lowers to other manufacturers uppers. Check them out:
http://www.brownells.com/

I believe the part number is: 231-015-016AF

You will have to check the pivot pin as part of your regular maintenance. B/c the diameter of the pin is smaller they can BREAK right at the threading.

I've had them separate on more than one occasion b/c the pin broke so stock up a few as spare parts.

imo, Colt hardened part works best.

I get mine from Ken Elmore @ SAW.

I loctite mine in blue.

I have had ZERO issues.

Unless you live in a ban state the best solution is to sell the Colt lower and get a standard pin size lower from any reputable manufacturer.
