View Full Version : Using a sling with an MOE stock?

I'm experimenting on which sling slot to use on my Magpul MOE stock (VTAC 2 point padded sling). I am right handed and use the rearmost QD socket on the Troy MRF DI rail as the front attachment point.

I practice with the sling over my right shoulder going under my left arm as my normal position.

I remove the sling from under my left arm so it hangs on my neck only for transitions.

I started out attaching my sling at these points, (not my guns, pics from Google)

And it worked well enough, only problem was when practicing fast transitions from right to left shoulder the sling would sometimes bind and try to choke me. When I go slower and more deliberately it goes over just fine.

So I tried having the sling go out the other side of the slot like this: (same front attachment on the rail as 1st pic)

and now transitions were smoother with no binding at any speed, but now at normal position when I shoulder the rifle the sling buckle gets between my shoulder and the stock sometimes.

Comments? Suggestions? Violent reactions? :D

I use mine with my sling over the weak shoulder. Hands free you can put it behind your back so you can walk without bumping it with your knees. When you transition to weak shoulder, the sling comes across your chest instead of your neck. I also find it easier to loosen the quick adjust by pulling the strap over my shoulder rather than under it.

What the hell kind of VFG is on that second rifle? Haha, worst thing I've ever seen on a gun.

Ah, that's something I haven't tried, will look into that too!

Haha I wouldn't know about that VFG, I just got the pics on Google. Looks like one of them folding fore grips. Not my thing either. :D
