Since I hurt my finger two months ago ($1200) and equiped a basic basement gym for my USMC recruit son ($400) I've had not one discretionary dime to spend on myself for anything since before Christmas. Today I came by $50 not already spoken for.
How should I spend it, for pure fun and as a distraction from the cares of life?

50? I would spend it on a really good meal and not think twice about it.
If not, buy some ammo and go let off some steam.
Hope your finger is healing!
Lottery Tickets and slim jims :D
Hookers and beer :D J/K I say buy a knife or dinner and a bottle of wine.
ETA: Truth be told I'd hide it until you found at least another $50 unclaimed unless its just burning a hole in your pocket. I know you could go on forever with the whole "...well with just another $50 or $100 you could get this..." argument but in this day I find that $100 opens up exponentially more options than $50
My vote is that you send it to me, but that could just be me.
Second idea would be a good Porterhouse dinner for one; second person's gonna cost more than that.
Buy your wife some flowers.
Ammo and a Big Mac meal for the wife.

Four Lancer mags, or a BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle. Or ammo ofcourse.
Buy your wife some flowers.
Or take her to dinner. Happy wife, happy life :D

The dinner and the flowers are already taken care of. I do that all the time, and for all the right reasons! :)

A massage. Concert or theater tickets for you and the wife. A good cigar and a bottle of port.

I think the Cabelas in Rapid City had .223 PMC bronze for $7 a box. I'm not sure if it still going on though.

I was there last week. I wish I'd seen that.
I saw it earlier this week, but I don't know when the sale was ending.
ETA. I found the in store flyer for the month and the PMC is on the second page.

Well, I'll tell you how I would spend it. A new york stake, rare and a vodka martini.
For now, chicken wings and a vodka tonic minus the fruit will have to do.

A bottle of Johnny Walker Red or some ammo. I'm leaning towards the Johnny Walker.
Bring yourself to lunch and the range.
Dinner
Ammo
PMAGS
A good book
a good coupla DVDs you've been eyeing
Or, you can do what I do: Virtual Shopping. Go to a store (online or retail) and throw stuff you REALLY want in your cart. As you walk around the store/peruse the site, put stuff back that you don't need right this second. When you get to about $50 worth of stuff, buy, or walk out. I'm telling you man, it's liberating to do it. For me, at least. I can safely say that I usually walk out under-budget for the day, and then not feel guilty about treating myself to a nice lunch or a coupla brews at the bar.
Well, if the wife is taken care of, then ammunition.
Ammo is the best way to turn money into skill, and enjoy the added benefits of recoil therapy.
