I've got a handful of 20 round AR mags floating around and I figured I might as well have some dedicated pouches for them. I figured I'd ask and see what would be some options for 20 round mags. I thought I had heard some grenade pouches work, but that doesn't sound right. So what are my options?

I am currently testing one from SKD. It is an ESSTAC single wedge 20 round mag pouch. The adjustable depth is a great feature and so far it has been working well. It also makes a great radio pouch for the small ICOM style radios.

What I like about it is how thin yet durable it is. When empty, it almost lays down flat since it has a open bottom.

I can't find it on their website, so it may not be out yet.

The Blue Force Gear ten speed pouches are another good option.

Weird, I was just thinking about this tonight as I am moving towards the 20 round AR magazine for my own use.

The Wilderness has a nylon type pouch.

I use a 20 round PMag as my primary mag at work. Great for vehicle ops.

How have the 20 rd. PMAGs run for you? Do you have experience with 20 round Lancers or 20 round USGIs?

Never had a problem with them, or any pmags at all, out of my Colt M4. I wish I could report something other than them being totally reliable.

I use the shorty ATS pouches with the few 20 rnd mags (PMAG) that I have. Works great for me

I bought a a double 30 round 5.11 mag pouch. I think it was mismarked because it only fit 20 round mags. I'm not sure if it was designed for 308 mags. Either way, it was the last 5.11 product I bought.

I use Triad Tactical Flop Top.

Original SOE Gear has one that looks good, but I have not used it.

Why are you going with 20 round mags?

The SOE pouch looks like it might be a good choice.

Because in an honest assessment of my needs (civilian "mission") 20 round magazines make a lot of sense. 30 rounders aren't going anywhere, but I am playing with the 20s more and more.

That's where I'm coming from as well. I've always used 20 rounders as primary mags, but I figured they might be useful otherwise. I guess 20s might work pretty good on a belt rig.

Go to the spreadsheet in my sig line.

Click on the tab labeled "Rifle-Filtered".

Scroll right until you get to the column labeled "Height".

Click the dropdown and select "Short".

20 round AR mags are my favourites hands down. For work or play, they do all I am going to ever need.

Much to my delight, Tactical Tailor just released two new mag pouches for the 20 AR round mag! They have a single and a double open top pouch..just what I needed!

The Tactical Tailor pouch looks great and it's at a somewhat better price point since a double pouch goes for $25. I might have to get one.

Pretty good options, though I am not really personally interested in carrying the 20 round mags on me in a specialized pouch... they are for onboard the gun.

I've always preferred the 20 rd mags. Don't like the length of the 30's and shooting prone can be hampered. I have some 30's but prefer 20's for general use. If I'm ever being besieged by zombies I'll grab my 30's tho... :)

Glad you guys brought this up. The only PMAGS I have are 20's with a few Brownells too.

guys i got to take a look at the OSOE 20 round pmag pouches this weekend. built like a tank. the ones i saw had flap closures with hook and loop only. They take up very little space for what they are.

Same here. The only mags I've been lately are PMAG20s and NHMTG 20s.

Really helps in the prone (plus highpower competition specifies the 20rndr as the max lol)
