Howdy all,

Please excuse my ingnorance, but what is the proper way to use a .223 chamber brush (http://tinyurl.com/2n7a3v) that has the bristles that are supposed to clean the bolt lugs on an AR-15? It seems like a pretty tight fit and unless I'm missing something, you'd have to reverse the direction of the brush in order to remove it from the chamber. I've always heard that you were not supposed to do that. Is there a certain way to rotate the brush that is the "accepted" way to use it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. However, that link references a normal bore brush, not an AR15 chamber cleaning brush. I suppose you just push it into the chamber and twist it out. That is the only thing I can think to do. Does that sound right? I don't want to damage the chamber (chrome lined) of my new AR.

as said in the link above: turn the brush in a clockwise direction and let it feed itself into the chamber.

a toothbrush will help you to clean the lugs

don't worry you wont hurt you CL chamber ;)

To clean the lugs, push the brush in, and pull it out. Repeat. To clean the void between the lugs and the face of the chamber, twist the brush whichever direction that doesn't cause it to unscrew from your cleaning rod.

That is pretty much what I figured. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks for the response.

I first spray out with Brake Cleaner Non CHLOR

its cheaps than GUN SKRUB

Then I use CLP or ? on my chamber brush and let that chamber Have it good

the brake cleaner sure makes cleaning alot FASTER and was the best Tip I found out on the Other Forum

been doing it the hard way since the 80`s
