Just recieved this in a email, but thought it was cool enough to pass on. And if you happen to be an illegal immigrant in the United States, I'm sorry, but I hope this offends you. There are plenty of ways to earn citizenship here, but you need to play by the rules too.

Boy, was I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.

I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I also have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts...

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.

Verify at: http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=iic_immigrationissuecenters7fd8

2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.HTML

3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

Verify at: http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.HTML

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

Verify at:http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANscriptS/0604/01/ldt..0.HTML

5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

Verify athttp://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANscriptS/0604/01/ldt.01.HTML

6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

Verify at:http://transcripts.cnn.com/%20TRANscriptS/0604/01/ldt.01.HTML

7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.

Verify at:http://transcripts.CNN.com/TRANscriptS/0604/01/ldt.01.HTML

8. $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

Verify at:http://premium.cnn.com/TRANSCIPTS/0610/29/ldt.01.HTML

9. $200 Billion dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

Verify at:http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSC%20RI%20PTS/0604/01/ldt.01.HTML

10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US .

Verify at:http://transcripts.cnn..com/TRANscriptS/0606/12/ldt..01.HTML

11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries.. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana, crossed into the US from the Southern border.

Verify at: Homeland Security Report:

12. The National policy Institute, estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annuallyover a five year period.'

Verify at:http://www.nationalpolicyinstitute..org/PDF/deportation.PDF

13. In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances to their countries of origin.

Verify at: http://www..rense.com/general75/niht.htm

14. 'The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One million sex crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants In The United States .'

Verify at: http: // www.drdsk.com/articleshtml %20w.drdsk.com/articleshtml

The total cost is a whopping $ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR AND IF YOU'RE LIKE ME HAVING TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY; IT IS $338,300,000,000.00 WHICH WOULD BE ENOUGH TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY FOR THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY.

That all sucks. But it is not the reason we are bankrupt. Those numbers are puny (yet still very important, don't get me wrong). Neither is Iraq or Afghanistan. It is the myriad of entitlements including Medicare, Medicaid, and every other welfare and entitlement program. It is spending money on farmers not to plant, and yes, also corporate welfare.

Look at the graph here

illegal immigrants are a convenient scapegoat.

i am by no means advocating any type of help for them or anything of the sort, but to blame our bankruptcy on them is not accurate.

This is a really depressing thread...

Millions of American's are also in debt. We are bankrupting ourselves individually. It's an accepted practice in our country. Our government won't change until we can change the outlook of the majority of Americans. Or unless we become the squeakiest wheel on the wagon. Long live the Tea Party.

TARP and free drugs to the Greatest Generation were on his watch.

Just sayin'.

One redeeming point about TARP is the money is/was supposed to be paid back so we were only out the money until it was paid back (with interest).

What made TARP bad is the democrats taking that money, and instead of putting it towards debt reduction as it was supposed to be used for...they are spending it on more stimulus spending and jobs bills.

I don't think it was a good idea as in a free market economy businesses who make poor decisions should suffer the consequences....

Most republicans are into entitlement spending too.

If our government only spent enough money to cover what they are constitutionally limited in doing we would only spend around 700B a year. There is no provision in the Constitution for entitlement spending, education, etc etc etc. As the budget gets bigger and bigger there is more waste and poorly run programs because Congress cannot devote enough time to properly run what they are doing now. They pass all this crap, and then its on to the next thing. The only way something gets fixed if it gets significant media coverage, and public outcry. If its allowed to remain hidden things decay and become money pitts not doing the public any good.

If we want a long term sustainable economy and government we need to look to getting the government back to what its supposed to do, and if the states want to become entitlement beacons then that is on them. The only way to sustain this is massive tax increases to European levels, and then be prepared for stagnant employment numbers in the 10-15% range permanently. What is happening now is we are spending without high enough taxes to pay for it. Can't go on forever. Even the worlds #1 economy has a break point, and we will be cut off. We are already at risk of losing our credit rating. We either have to go socialist, and increase taxes or we need to go back to a small government there to promote commerce, provide for the national defense, provide a post office and interstate roads (post roads), etc.

As to illegal aliens one of the biggest hurdles to overcome is the anchor baby. As long as we grant citizenship to kids born here by illegal alien parents the issue is never going to get fixed. Our border security is a joke. Enforcement of the law is a joke. We need stiff fines and penalties for businesses who knowingly hire illegals. Need to remove the anchor baby amendment and make citizenship only to babies with at least one citizen parent. No welfare to illegals. The basic jist is we have made ourself a juicy target for people to come here illegally, and pop out kids. If we remove the incentive for them to come here in the first place.... But unfortunately our government, both democrats, and many republicans are all too happy to cater to the illegals as they are clamoring for votes, and appealing to the "minorities". They are in a rat race to see who can get the mexican vote.

In addition to the above illegals also send billions out of the country to relatives in Mexico and S. America. They commit crimes here against American citizens. They make it harder to combat the drug trade. Many of them are driving without licenses and insurance. They contribute to a lower standard of living here by pushing wages down. Most don't have health insurance so we pay for it with higher insurance premiums. We pay higher taxes to schools to subsidize their children's education. We pay higher taxes for county medical services (if you live in a western or southern state take a walk through your local county human/health services building). The impact is a lot more than most care to realize.

While I agree that they aren't the sole reason for our problems; I strongly disagree that they are a scapegoat. They are a legitimate problem that needs to go away.

Here fixed it for you. I agree with a lot of the posters above, it's not the main problem, or the biggest problem, but it is one of many problems that the elected elite choose not to correct. Please notice I said "problem", not "challenge", or "issue" or any of that PC (Politically Corrupt) garbage that passes for language and communication.

It's semantics, by making the problem go away or cease to exist; it's been dealt with.

While I agree that illegal aliens are a huge and costly problem, the real problem is our politicians out right robbing our money to give it to their Wall st cronies. 338 billion sounds like alot of money (and it is!!) until you compare it to the Trillions of dollars that our integrous politicians just gave to their Wall st. Banksters pals. It is THE largest theft in human history.

Not a dig at you re the semantics; more aimed at those Ostrich like folks who bury their heads in the sand (or PS3, or movies, or work, or ...) and make the problem "go away".

Sorry for any misconceptions here, but I edited about half a page of explanation out from the original email I recieved this in...

This DOES NOT even attempt to show where America is wasting ALL of it's money, only to point out that ths stuff goes on, so it's no wonder we are in the position we are in rigt now. We all know there are huge problems that our country is all-but-ignoring rigt now, not JUST this one.

As mentioned above, illegal immigration is only one problem in this country, and this was intended to point that out.

Good day, gents!

Does anyone here honestly think that the Federal government can be fixed via voting?

Really?

The $338B is only a small part of GDP. However, this money could be spent in vastly superior ways if we somehow could deport all of the illegals. I have no problem with someone from another country wanting to come here. Just do it legally.

Illegal immigration is in fact a problem, but let's not forget that at the moment, there are more worthless Americans sucking on the welfare teat than any flavor of illegal immigrant.

Illegal aliens are not the cause of our national financial problems. Voters are. Voters who keep voting for politicians who promise to give them something (or to give someone else something after a sob story) at someone else's expense. The money spent on people who shouldn't even BE in our nation is but a symptom of the much larger problem.

It's a symptom we should certainly seek to treat, mind you...but it's still just a symptom.

A symptom indeed, but also a means. Who are all the hispanic, legal politicians fighting for? Their political constituents, who are also likely hispanic or at least a minority. And who do they care about? Their poor fellow illegal, hard working hispanics/oppressed minorities. And so the slanted political policies begin to develop...

The more here, legal or not, the more momentum established on their behalf in the guise of American fairness. It's all relevant. And when these illegal but American born children grow up, guess who they'll be voting for?
