Are barrels with M4 feed ramps OK to install on the old A1 receivers?

It does work. But if used in this fashion you don't take full advantage of the M4 ramps. If you're using good mags with strong springs there should be no issues.
The US Air Force did this for years with the GAU5.
I've also seen Israeli carbines set up this way.
Is it OK to cut the M4 feed ramps into an older A1 receiver, or would this compromise the structural integrity of the receiver?

doesn't hurt anything... the extended ramps exist only to catch those maybe-once-in-a-ten-thousand rounds that come in low, so it's not like it's a wear point or anything.
just don't **** it up... biggest thing to make sure you dont go too deep.
