Keaton told his tales of heroism in Korea and Vietnam to students in high schools across Oregon including Milwaukie High and Redmond High.

In one picture Keaton is wearing the Silver Star above his left breast pocket that he says he won in Korea for an act of heroism.

Several publications celebrated Keaton’s three tours of duty in Vietnam as an advanced reconnaissance scout with the Rangers.

He said he saw a lot of combat in Vietnam and lost a lot of friends there.

“I have nightmares, and I wake up and I know I’m home,” he said.

Keaton was honored last year in Atlanta as the 2009 Airborne Man of the Year for his service during World War II and for helping to liberate the Los Banos POW camp.

Everything was a lie...

Are there any criminal charges for his actions?

It's nothing but a slap in the face to all those who actually have served:mad:

What kind of loser do you have to be to fake a story like that. I have never served but I do hold the people that have served in the highest regard for the sacrifices that they made for this country and for my family. As such it angers me when ass-hats try to pull stuff like this. The funny thing is the guy did serve and that alone was worthy of praise…

Someone should wrap piano wire around his little, itty bitty ballsack and hang that PIECE OF SHIT. Anyone who could even possibly think of some bizarre bullshit like that doesn't deserve to live.

Disgusting. Mr. Keaton, do the honorable thing and put a bullet into your head.

I believe it is a federal offense.

I suppose disgust would be an appropriate response, though I have to admit that I often feel a sense of pity for men who are so underaccomplished, so deadfully insecure, and so desperate for recognition that they feel compelled to assume a mantel of honor to which they are not entitled -- and one which they are so ill-equipped to carry.

I've dealt with them before in Airborne and Aviation circles, and I always am struck with the same thought: "These poor, poor worms. I can only hope that they haven't fathered any sons."

Dude, I feel some strange sense of pity for these fools as well (sometimes, depending on my mood!!). What strikes me though is that I feel good, honorable, REAL men are greatly outnumbered nowadays by lowlifes like this guy. WTF is going on in our country?? You are sooo correct in stating that you hope they didn't father any offspring. More assholes for all of our children to deal with in the future!! :p

What's wrong with these people who come up with this shit and can't be proud of doing their bit even if it isn't a cool-guy MOS/AFSC, earning an "Honorable" on their 214, then going out into productive civilian life having done more than 95% of the schmucks in the world? For Pete's sake, my job in the AF wasn't "tactical" or interesting to anybody other than the half-dozen folks who came to the once-a-year dog-and-pony show we put on but at least I wore the uniform honorably and haven't been totally worthless once I hung it up...

Anyone else been following the Aaron Lawless drama on silencertalk? He showed up on the forum a few years ago making all sorts of outrageous claims about service, purple hearts, other awards, etc., hoodwinked the vast majority of the membership and even got Glock to give him a gun and Ermy to have him at some event as their "hero".

got busted late last year speeding through a construction zone with pot and illegal machineguns in the car and the whole charade continues to crumble from there. Saddest part is some of the folks that STILL support the guy. I think a couple of the members have reported his fraud though, so his year he's supposed to do for the speeding/pot/machinegun deal may turn out to be longer.

I was working for the State of Oregon then this asshole got jailed for being weard, I was in trianing for a juvenile PO, which IM NOT, and did some ride alongs with him. I was in the Army guard after getting out of the Army and this dirtbag was aware it it, funny he never said shit about being a vet, and all the other shit he was supposed to have done.
Makes me sick to see all wings on his chest. I was Airborne, would I like to have a word with this guy, better yet have a young trooper from the 82nd say a few words to him.

Me pissed off, hell no. Thanks for bring this up.

Kinda hard to believe you would do more time for playing dress up and telling fake war stories than having illegal machineguns.

Well, I am as well now that you mention it, but I think you know that wasn't the point.

;)

The subject of the OP is under indictment for voter fraud and social security fraud, hopefully he will get some substantial time for that. IIRC the Stolen Valor thing is a Federal misdemeanor it's under a year in prison, so still doubt this other guy would do more time than for illegal machinegun possession which is a bigtime felony.

Well,

To me I trying to figure out why your not supportive of this phoney or others in this thread BUT don and endorse the knives of another proven phoney here.

https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=47229&page=3

Here is link in your post:

Seems inconsistant in logic & I'm trying to understand being supportive of phonies vs. not in your instance.

Here's who makes the knife you don.

http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies366.htm

The knife in question may be a fine knife BUT that is not the issue.

I asked if you are supportive of phonies and your response was "no, why would I be"...

NO biggee I'm just confused by the logic applied etc.

If it makes you happy I sold the Strider... I dunno, a year ago?

I think every phony out there ought to be forced to earn every one of the decorations and badges they choose to defile with their filthy bodies. You wanna wear jump wings? Then jump out of a C-130 over Afghanistan. Wanna wear a Pathfinder's Badge? Then you go first. Wanna wear a Silver Star... you get my drift.

I've written before that I believe every healthy culture must have a way to recognize heroism. How many of us look at a warrior's uniform to see who he is, where he's been, and what he's done?

I am not a hero, but I respect those that are. :)

It's ****ed up, I tend to think that proper punishment would involve a legal group asswhooping from a few actual Rangers rather than prison time. I agree with the sentiment that it's sad though. I'm pretty sure that it's a symptom of a larger psychological illnes...people don't make such grandiose lifelong lies just because they're a lazy jerk who didn't earn anything.

Rob, are you now, or have you ever been a member of the communist party? Or possibly attended a party held by communists, either known or unknown.:D Your reach is only slightly longer.

Not at all realistic, but for sentimental reasons, this is my favorite suggestion to date. :)

Yeah, I know Chief. If they had a modicum of courage they wouldn't have to fake it. I wouldn't be adverse to handing them an M4 and a parachute and pushing them off the ramp of a C-130 (alone) over Afghanistan though. ;)
