Damn you do awesome work, if it didn't cost so much for a stupid Glock frame round trip I would have this done in a minute. That's where I think my P320 shines, 10 seconds and the grip is off and in the mail for $6. It's stupid that we have to pay overnight... Sorry ranting off...

Thanks! Agreed the P320 is a very convenient design. I think the Ruger American Pistol is the same and hopefully more follow suit in the future.

Just finished piecing my new carry gun together.

Gen4 G19, Glock Kraft trigger shoe, AA Magwell, Ameriglo sights. Looking forward to getting some rounds through it next week.

Putting this one together to try out the 6 Second Mount and test a LW 9mm conversion barrel. I had a milled slide/RMR setup a few years ago, it'll be interesting to see how this handles in comparison.

My favorite carry gun and have been waiting to see one with a SF XC1 light on it. NICE!

The Magwell is nice too….not overly sized. I have never heard of it. Need to look it up.

if you can remember (down the road), can you provide a review of the light and its overall use to include training and everyday carry. I like the overall size for CC (compared to X200/300/TLR1) and how it stays inline with the muzzle but does smaller mean more difficult to operate.

thanks in advance

Nice, so you installed just the trigger shoe and not their entire assembly correct? If so, let us know if you feel any change. I am trying to figure out if I want to do JUST the shoe or an entire new trigger set. I would like to keep the trigger assembly stock if I can to keep it reliable.

I have been practicing with the XC1 and I find the operation very intuitive. It lines up perfectly to my thumb in regular two hand grip. Just push thumb down or forward to activate the light momentarily. Permanent activation requires a bit more effort as you have to shift your operating hand to disengage it, but not a big deal for me, I don't normally use "always on" activation anyways.

Just the shoe. I prefer to keep stock internals so this was the way to go. I installed a factory new smooth trigger w/bar to get rid of the serrated trigger and the trigger safety had a very slight delay in returning to the forward position so I decided it was time to give one of these triggers a shot. The trigger safety on the Glock Kraft seems to have more spring pressure behind it and works very smoothly. I really like the feel of the flat faced shoe and it seems like pretravel is reduced a bit. I don't really perceive a difference in the "wall" or overtravel which is fine by me.

The Agency Arms magwell is slick as can be. I've run ZEV and Dawson Ice magwells on full size frames, they work very well but they're too bulky for CC. I think AA nailed it with this one. The low profile will work well for CC and the angled cut on the back assist with that as well. It still provides a "shelf" for my pinky finger which allows me to push off and force the web of my hand up into the beavertail.

The xc-1 works well from what I've experienced playing with it around the house. The ridges on the activation switches are a little sharp, I'll probably knock the tops off with a small file as holding them down through recoil is going to be pretty uncomfortable. The activation switches are smaller than on an X200/X300 but I don't anticipate any issues getting used to them. All I have to do is bend my thumb down and it lands right on the switch.

ETA: Gunf1ghter beat me to the punch and I agree with his assessment. I think the xc-1 is going to work out well but I'll admit that I'm probably biased, wanted Surefire to release something like this for years.

First phase of grip modification from early 2012; consisting of flattening out the hump, incorporating a speedwell in the cavity with epoxy, removed the finger straps, opening up the area around the magazine release and lastly stippling in the areas where surfaces were removed:

https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8178/7946617884_6e39db62e8_b.jpg

Current phase:

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1662/26042908626_a3b25582b3_b.jpg

Overall more reduction in grip, trigger guard undercut and enlarged the scallop around the magazine release for a better purchase. The bare sanded areas will need to be further refined into a mirror polish as soon as I figure out a good method. The border for stippled areas with a radius such as the upper back part and underneath the trigger guard was accomplished using a small piece of aluminum flashing held on with a C-clamp. The overall grip feels MUCH better now.

NICE job!!! What "method" did you use to flatten and reshape the hump part of the grip?

Using heat with a magazine inserted in insure the opening does not concave.

Before:

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7034/6657004033_5fffd7c40a_b.jpg

First phase of grip modification from early 2012; consisting of flattening out the hump, incorporating a speedwell in the cavity with epoxy, removed the finger straps, opening up the area around the magazine release and lastly stippling in the areas where surfaces were removed:

https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8178/7946617884_6e39db62e8_b.jpg

Current phase:

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1463/25466236653_7df1f35ff9_b.jpg

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1542/26002505571_e76384d5b5_b.jpg

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1662/26042908626_a3b25582b3_b.jpg

Overall more reduction in grip, trigger guard undercut and enlarged the scallop around the magazine release for a better purchase. The bare sanded areas will need to be further refined into a mirror polish as soon as I figure out a good method. The border for stippled areas with a radius such as the upper back part and underneath the trigger guard was accomplished using a small piece of aluminum flashing held on with a C-clamp. The overall grip feels MUCH better now.

Can I send you my frame lol!

Howdy,

I've noticed that most people who modify their grip remove the hump but for one like the hump.

I grew up shooting a 1911A1 with an arched mainspring housing ( every 1911 I've owned has had an arched mainspring housing) and I tend to shoot low during SD type "point shooting" when using a flat mainspring housing.

Same thing happens with any semi-auto that has a flat grip backside.

All my Glocks are stock except my G35 has a Lone Wolf barrel Hi-a is front sight and an OEM slide stop/release/catch/whatever you want to call it and my G20 10 has a Lone Wolf S/S guide rod with a 20lb recoil spring. My EDC G23 is bone stock.

I carry a Glock 19 everywhere I go unless I'm at work where I'm issued a Glock 22. I don't shoot the 19s as well as I would like so I've been working with the 19 more lately. The new 10-8 sights and smooth trigger really helped too.
This was the first time I scored perfect with a 19. So far I've scored perfect with a Glock 17, 22, 19, H&K VP9 and an M&P 9.

Wrapped up the latest project. Gen 4 17 frame 98% finished using what I've learned from the Glock 19 frame previously done. No expoxy this time on the hump reduction, just heat and a vice. I'll have to straighten out that undercut radius some other time.

It's only a straw purchase if he's prohibited from owning a gun.

Actually, according to the ATF that is not exactly the case. There are a couple other people who got screwed because of it also.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2014/06/16/supreme-court-affirms-police-officer-s-felony-conviction-for-buying-gun-for-law-abiding-uncle/

As part of that paperwork, Question 11a on Form 4473–created by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)–asked whether you are the actual purchaser of the firearm (versus buying for another person). Abramski spoke to more than one gun dealer who said he could say he was the actual buyer.

Several federal appeals courts held this provision of federal law is designed only to prevent “straw man” sales, where a buyer obtains the firearm on behalf of someone who would be refused the sale after they failed a federal background check. In the Supreme Court’s words from 1976, Congress wrote this provision to “keep firearms out of the hands of those not legally entitled to possess them because of age, criminal background, or incompetency.”

Nonetheless, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond (with jurisdiction over the Mid-Atlantic states) agreed with two other federal appeals courts in holding that when Abramski checked the box affirming he was the purchaser, he committed a federal felony.

If Abramski purchased the gun on his own, then decided to give it to his uncle as a free gift, that would be legal. Or if Abramski bought it for himself, then the following week decided to sell it to his uncle, that would be legal. But because his uncle wrote him a check for the gun before Abramski went to the store to buy the gun, and thus was acting as his uncle’s agent to buy a gun, Abramski committed a crime.

Picked up a G17 with an RMR. It's nowhere near as steep of a learning curve as many make it out to be, and you'll catch on after a few draw strokes.

Its biggest strength is shooting while moving or at a moving target. I'm digging it so far.

10 rds at 25 yards.

It is recessed with ledges he calls "infinity ledges". I just sent one of my frames to him and can't wait to get it back.

Just got this frame back from Kent (aka Maiden3.16). I am very impressed, he received it last Thursday, had if finished by Sunday, and back in the mail to me on Monday. I highly recommend him for frame work if you are considering getting it done, and his pricing is nearly impossible to beat.

How snaggy is that type of stipple? Most stippling leaves a very sharp texture that grabs clothing like Velcro. This looks like the texture is rounded just enough to not sang clothing.

It's definitely on the aggressive side. I've been carrying it appendix against my skin for the past 6 hours now and it's not irritating or anything. Haven't noticed it snag my shirt at all, either in normal movement or during presentation drills.

I've got two, and I've sold probably 25 of them. For what it is for, it's a great little piece. Don't expect it to be the baddest light out there, but for BUG size and weight it performs very well.

I recently got one for my 43. Love it. I now find myself, out of laziness, taking my 43 straight from carry to nightstand duty because I have a light and laser on it even though I have better options in the safe. TTI +3 baseplate doesn't hurt either.

Thanks, Kent at Polymer Refined did the frame. The rear sight is actually from a Redback One ECS set and the front is a 10-8. I have this setup on my 2 G19s and a 10-8 rear on my 17.

Looks identical to the heinie. Anyways, What was the turn around time for the frame work? About to get a 19 MOS.

I sent him 2 different frames on 2 separate occasions. I had both back in about 8 or 9 days, including shipping times. I think he estimates about 2 weeks to be on the safe side though. Both of mine are the puzzle matrix texture.

Nvm just checked the site, looks to be 1 week. Is that your edc? How is that texture, if you edc do you have any problems with your shirts sticking to it?

I've got two, and I've sold probably 25 of them. For what it is for, it's a great little piece. Don't expect it to be the baddest light out there, but for BUG size and weight it performs very well.

Picked up a very nice pawn shop find Gen 2 G17 yesterday. Only plans for this one are new sights and extended slide release. Other than that, it will stay just as it is. The prefix dates this one @ 1992.

Thanks!

The prefix on this one is AEN and the internals look near new and zero rust. The previous owner must have hardly shot it at all, maybe a few hundred rounds and has no holster wear.

That's an outstanding looking Gen 2 17 svtpwnz.

My Gen 2 17 is considerably more beat up. I picked this thing up with plenty of wear on the whole gun. The texture on the frame was pretty much smooth, there's a chunk missing out of the bottom of the grip, the slide had plenty of scratches and dings, and the factory sights were rounded off. No idea of the round count, but I'm going to guess plenty.

I replaced all the springs and had some weak extraction issues (it would sometimes toss brass up on the slide where it would sit, actually kind of funny), so I tossed in a new extractor and have put a little over 8k through it since with zero issues. It's been a solid competition gun and I'd have no problem at all carrying it.

Thanks!

Your Gen 2 has had one hell of a life but I wouldn't mind having it at all. I'm sure there are 10's of thousands more rounds left in her.

I was actually there looking at a gen 2 G19 they had but the slide looked like the previous owner holstered it in sandpaper and rocks. It closely resembled yours but the slide looked worse and frame looked better. We couldn't agree on price so I left only to later that afternoon to pay what they wanted.

Unfortunately, it sold not long after I left. However, hidden on a rack behind the employee was this gem. It didn't come with the box and only one mag but in considerably far better condition. They sold it to me for the price as the G19 that was beat all to hell.

That's a great deal. Ironically I went the other way and stumbled a great condition Gen 2 19 for a song. The original owner had shot it less than 200 rounds he thought and asked $250 because it was an "old gun" and he didn't have the box for it.

That is friggin awesome! You got a smoking deal on that Gen 2 G19 and congrats to you. I picked up the G17 for $375 and thought I did pretty well. The prices on gen 2 Glocks in decent shape is climbing quite a bit and they are getting harder and harder to find. The ones in excellent shape are almost impossible to find these days.

How Glock has came in Full Circle. I think the new FBI gun will look very similar to that. I would bet it will have a rail, Gen 4 side panel texture, and a Gen 4 recoil system. But, very close to something from 20 years ago.
