View Full Version : The Official GLOCK Picture Thread
I have been shooting it quite a bit lately. I will see if it is my favorite after the class tomorrow....
That sucker is ugly as sin but if it performs like a 3rd gen 9mm Glock, you'll like it more after the class than you do now. Having faith in a gun and your ability to use it is a good feeling.
I wish I was going to Vickers tomorrow!

This G34 is about as awesome as the VSM class! I had 2 stoppages. Oddly enough, they were 2 light primer strikes on some Mil Serp ammo I was using. Both occurred after a press check. I have absolutely no idea if it is related or not. I am doing a complete detail strip and clean to make sure there is no broken parts. I am over 1000 rounds now in this gun without a cleaning so it is overdue.

I'm jealous.
1k rounds? Shouldn't need to be cleaned. I always manage to induce a malf doing press checks too. Pistol or AR.

I know 1000 is not much for that pistol but it will be the first time I clean it thoroughly since I purchased it (got it used). It is an older model that came in the tupperware box. I just feel better giving it a once over after it gave me some issues during its first class. I have a Gen4 22 that I am bringing to my week long patrol rifle school this week that has 2900 rounds through it without any cleaning, oiling or wiping down. I don't know how many rounds I will shoot through it this week but I'm confident it will not stop.

Cory, pay close attention to the firing pin channel. Make sure you don't have any crud in there. Could very well be the cause of your light primer strikes as the round had an indentation in it but not very deep.

If you do your part it will keep them in the black at 25 yds and is capable of banging steel to 125 yds. So... accurate enough.

Very nice. Might have to have one, just to add to the collection. I generally lean towards accuracy in pistols, but that's my particular predilection.

A Glock is a simple tool. Nothing more. It goes bang every time, carries 15 rounds, conceals nicely and is accurate enough to get the job done.
If I want to shoot something "nice" it will be a hand built slab of steel and a piece of Americana, designed by JMB. :D

http://forums.1911forum.com/images/smilies/rock.gif I absolutely agree. I'm playing with the idea of getting a Glock for carry to go with my Brown 1911. though, the Brown has been 100% reliable for the past 20,000 rounds...

Could you post pics of your Ed Brown in the 1911 thread, to show the wear after 20,000 rds? A pic of it field stripped would be really cool too!
Thanks,

pretty nice! I'm finally breaking down and getting a G19.
Well I hope you like it.
Some people do and some people don't, coming from a 1911, it's hard to say what'll happen.
This is one of my proofed 3rd gen 19s.
http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/sammuse/Glock%2019/g19.jpg
Heres some G-19 diversity! (funky pic, sorry)
From nearest to farthest:
1) '89 2nd gen (proofed)
2) '06 OD
3) '06 3rd gen (proofed)
4) '09 RTF2
5) '11 Gen4
They all have Ameriglo DeFoor sights except for the RTF2, it has an Amerglo tritium front and standard black rear.
I'm still thinking about picking up another RTF with the curved serrations and "C" model just round out the collection. I carry and shoot every one of these, they all have holster wear and I hope I can wear 'em all out before I die.

Sure is. I won't run a Glock without them because I use my strong thumb to drop the slide. He will get one to me as soon as possible. I also owe him a couple dot connectors that I need to get in the mail to him this week. I'll bet the parts cross paths in the mail. If there is a delay I'll simply steal the one out of my EXO 19 that I never shoot to hold be over.
I just grabbed it yesterday and haven't had a chance to pop it in... But the deal I got I was more worried about meeting my buddy before he changed his mind :D I basically got the Glock which is brand new for $175 bucks or so when you factor in mags, sights and MC :D:

Awesome, I have been contemplating grabbing another glock again (34 probably), I have been running the m&p 9C for awhile now and im wanting a 5" slide for competition shooting (PPC) so its either a 9L or 34.

Steve,
The work was performed by Ben between September 2010 and November 2010, the gun pretty much had everything done to it minus the glove bevel and rounding the trigger guard.
The 17 was done by Diversified Firearms Concepts.

Not at all. I use a grip that eliminates any issues with contact with the controls on almost any handgun. If you simply move your strong thumb off the slide and onto your OSH thumb it will eliminate those issues and allow you to pick up any handgun and rock on. Both Vickers and Defoor amongst others teach it. I'll find a pic for you as I know I haver one from an AAR I'll just have to find a top view.
D90 - Roger that. I know what you mean, it's the grip I've always used. I'll catch Hell occasionally for "compromising my grip" though and heard LAV was big on using the support thumb to drop the slide, so I had to ask.
I've got huge hands, enough to touch OEM Glock / M&P slide stops - so I always found breaking grip better especially on hammer guns.
I've been trying to use my support thumb, but I feel like I'm going full retard. I'll have to check out the extended one.
I'd still be interested in a pic though, just to see how much difference it makes in relation to the primary thumb. How would it compare to the G34/35 OEM slide stop - size wise?
Cool pics by the way.

LAV is big on using the SS to charge but isn't to wrapped up on only using the support hand. The one danger with using your strong thumb is that you can out run seating the magazine completely... I used my support hand for years and recently went to using my strong thumb on Glocks. Between that and using a method I learned from JD from Northern Red where I drive the gun DOWN onto the mag instead of shoving the mag up into the magwell I have got my reloads down to 2 seconds and below inside 10yds on a B8 or A's. I also brought the gun in to my body a little bit which also helps ME. It's still up in my work space just not extended out quite so far...

Gotcha. Good to hear someone else finds the primary thumb works well - especially better trained then me.
I've never heard of bringing the gun down onto the mag. Not knocking it, just sounds unique. If you ever take any video of it in action, I'd definitely be interested in seeing it.
Thanks for your time.
Gotcha. Good to hear someone else finds the primary thumb works well
The only issue with the primary thumb is if you activate the slide release before you seat the mag. The secondary thumb usually keeps this from happening. I don't really have a preference. I have been under the clock with both thumbs and the slingshot method and are around the same time with all three. I am no super fast shooter but I have better than average times.

Good looking pistol Brother!
On the other topic... Train and use what works for YOU. The great instructors in the industry today will teach their preferred method but if your method works for YOU under stress they all simply say rock on... To me that's one of the signs of a great instructor instead of those caught in the dogma of there is only one way of accomplishing the task at hand. On fundamentals, they are much less tolerant on "variation"...

350, can you tell us more about the 19 in the above pic? Specifically the grip on it. Thanks!
Do you like the grip?
I do like it, the sandpaper texture is grippy without being so aggressive that if you are shooting without glove as to tear up your hands. Besides the decal grip cost me all of $10 so I figured that if I didn't like it I wasn't truly out anything nor did I have to risk a stipple job that I might not like.

Kahr sells sand texture and rubber texture grips like that. I've always wondered. Where did you get yours?

I've had mine for about 5 months. For the price i figured they were a safe bet, besides if I didn't like them they come off pretty easy. Got a cop friend of mine using them now, since he's the training officer and getting to spend a good bit of time on the range, if any issues arise with them I am sure he will find them out in the coming months.

I just got one of those myself in the same "used" like new condition. Not a fan of the fish gills but after I throw on some warrens, vickers mag release, and have Ben do his magic on the grip,it will make a hell of a range/training pistol to beat the shit out of. Got a hell of a price on it too.

This is a police trade in 23. I just wanted to try Cerkote out for the first time with a pattern with lines and multiple colors to see how detailed and clean it could be, without ruining any of my main weapons.
http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g342/F2SConsulting/b8312e9a.jpg
Also note that the image makes it seem to have more of a shine due to lighting. It's rather subtle in person.

Just so you know I meant try it as in "have it done on one of my pieces," I do feel like the guy did a good job though, however, I don't have other peoples work to compare it to.
I have only had one quick indoor pistol range session with it with no repetitive holstering so I cant speak confidently on the wear resistance.
It feels great though. It feels like you're hands are completely dry and chalky even if they are sweaty. Im a fan so far of the cerakote finish in that regard alone. In comparison to a new gen 4 Glock 17 with no stippling I have it makes the 17 feel slippery. I have a stippled M&P9 and I would compare it to that. The cerakoted one does have a primitive stippling job that was done to it before I got it but it had minimal impact compared to the Kote.

1) Did Glock ever make a Glock 34 in RTF finish?
2) When did Glock make the RTF guns (Month/Year to Month/Year).
3) What models of RTF guns were made?
4) Any idea of how many were made of each?
Thanks in Advance .
Glock 19 is by far the best handgun ever made. Im sure i will catch some heat from this but I stand firm. Everyone knows its function and reliability, but also its small enough to be a CCW but also large enough to be your primary handgun (as apposed to your back-up). Some ppl might disagree with a 9mm cartridge but I carry it everyday and it works very well for me.
I agree. I have carried 1911's and Sig's over my career and have always gone back to the Glock. I and my friends have chosen the 9mm.
Most are carrying either the 17 or 19 with one carrying a Beretta 92, stainless.
It works for us.
All done for now.
Home trigger job, Warren tactical sights, home stipple job and undercut under trigger gaurd.

What mag extensions are you using and are they plus twos?
These are the newer Pearce +2 extensions.
I use them for competition/range use, never for carry.
FYI if those are PG-39, they are actually +3 in 9mm and +2 in .40. Just like the PG2733, it takes a bit of effort to cram 3 rounds in there the first time..

No, it is a holster from a friend of mine who has just started his own holster company. Concealment Innovations. He is out of Coatsville, PA. He does great work and the wait time is around a week, yes, I said a week. The holster is very solid and quite concealable for such a large pistol. I can post more pics if interested. Painting your magwell edge is pretty common. It allows you to pick up your magwell fast and is a good way to make sure you are keeping your pistol in your work space for mag changes.

I have painted the edge of my magwell on my IDPA/3-gun/USPSA G-34 for that reason, but for the life of me I can't recall actually seeing the paint on any reload where I was under the stress of the timer...ever.

I have always been an HK guy but finally gave in and I picked up my first Glock about two weeks ago. Its a 19 that is ugly as sin but the price was right and I figured I could always repaint it.
So far I have fired ~500 rounds and it is kind of growing on me.

Good purchase.

At first I said, it can't be that bad, and then I scrolled down a bit further and sure enough, you were right. Looked better the more I studied it though. Congrats on the purchase. :D

I can run it pretty well. I've been practicing with it and other knives for over 9 years. I have 6 different karambits and only once has it bitten me. I have a Red Scorpion, Spyderco, 5.11, Emerson, Fox Italy & one I bought when I went to the Philippines.

I would call that a thing of beauty. I have been trying to track down a Glock 35 with the factory OD myself, but no luck so far. Has anyone found a good source or is it just plain luck to come across one?
@zeke18 HA! Glad to see I'm not the only!! And good guess, its actually a Mike Lin graphic rendering text. Good one tho! Keep at it man, maybe I'll work with yah one of these days. haha

Do you have a can for your threaded barrel? What magazine are you running there?
Didn't want a brand new G19, just a beater, so I bought this Police trade-in.
The slide is pretty clean but the barrel has some wear. Just one little tiny speck of bare metal on the slide rail where it started to peen.

Damn I don't why but that is a nice glock, maybe just because it has that badge stamp on it.
I like the engraving too. I've been thinking about getting one on my Glock or Kahr. I'll probably never get a tattoo, but this i'll do. Now I just need to find something cool to have engraved.

Why do you do that to the trigger guard? What's the purpose?
If you ever hold or get a chance to shoot one similar to that, it is much more comfortable.
Very nice work by the way.
I really wish people would stop making side magwell cut outs.
Sure they help with stripping of a mag....as long as you have both hands.
But the front magwell cut outs aid extraction with both hands and during single hand.

The prices of other professional Glock frame services aren't bad but I was unable to afford both the service cost and the damn next day air shipping required for the frame. It's not the prettiest reduction job and frame work but it only cost me $6.

something the customer requested... some call it an "enhanced" glock grip... its bassically just a index point under the trigger guard...

I've had the thing since SHOT SHOW actually, but I finally bought a glock to go in it! Seriously! :sarcastic:
