Does anyone know of any place around or in Orlando that falls into the Tactical fun catagory? Gun shops, gear stores ETC

Orlando SUCKS. I lived there for a year and hated it.

I think the best he will get is Shoot Straight, and that is stretching it.

There two locations are:

1349 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703
4700 S U.S. HWY 17-92, Casselberry, FL 32707

Of the two, the Apopka store is the nicer by a wide margin.

There will be a gun show this upcoming weekend at the Orlando Fair grounds.

Finally there is this link (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=116047857722428643703.0004375e0c348e0b4c8d6&z=9&om=1) (courtesy of LurkMastR @ FSN) that shows all of the central Florida gun shops that are known. He may be able to find something closer to him using that.

I agree with the Shoot Straight in Apopka store. Pretty good range there. They also have a 25 yd rifle range as well, with two lanes. They also have a wide selection of pistols and rifles.

They will ask you for your driver's license and phone number if you want to buy anything. They load your DL# into their database for some reason. Their range is crowded on weekends. Their prices are far from being competitive. This is the reason I stopped going there.

Now I make the trip out to East Orlando Shooting Sports. They are very friendly, and have a great selection of guns. Prices are somewhat better there too, IMHO. They do not demand papers in order to buy gun cleaning equipment.

They do not have a rifle range, but honestly, when I do need a rifle range, I either get someone to invite me to Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club - where they have 50, 100, 200 and 300 yd ranges, as well as shotgun and cowboy action shooting areas - or I go to Seminole County.

We really need more good ranges in Orlando. :(

Thanks. I will let him know. Maybe he can convince the other half to stop by Grey Group on the way back to New York.

When I lived there, there used to be a range on I-Drive (forgot the name), that rented FA weapons to tourist.

B&H Gunrack in Merrit Island is not too far IIRC. Back in the day I used to go there to get my class III fix. The owner had some amazing firepower on hand and ammo case prices were unbeatable. If it is still there I would make the trip if bored. Shoot Straight is great as long as you don't pay near sticker price and can deal with the wanna be SpecOp kids behind the counters.

They've been out of business for ages now. They were the same folks that owned Tampa Shooting Sports @ Dale Mabry and Waters.
