Hello all, looks like I'm going to be in the Detroit area for the month of April, does anybody have recommendations for ranges?
I should have a car and I don't mind driving a bit.
Thanks, nick

He's right, just about anywhere will do these days. Just watch your backstops.

The best place to shoot, purchase and hang out is The Firing Line in Westland, MI - right off of Hix Road. Tell 'em "Carlton" highly recommended them to ya. It's probably good for a free range session.

Their prices are also the best and the place is owned by several police officers. You also have a very unique [and very talented] group of guys hanging out there all of the time. Courses are also taught.

Damn, I miss the place...

Then there is Target Sports in Royal Oak. More stuff including attitude...

Where do you live (what area) if you don't mind my asking?

Yep, the entire city is one big urban range. Just open the door and blast away, gang bangers been doing it for years and the cops never give them any problems.

This was intended as humor and I don't condone acting with such reckless behavior.

When I was a kid in Detroit, Herman Gardens seemed to be the place for shooting... :D oh, and the Cass Corridor too (tho' the POS that killed my uncle used a bayonet instead of a gun).

Where in Detroit?

Indoors?

If you're talking Oakland County, try Target Sports in Royal Oak or Orchard Lake Shooting Range (W. Bloomfield).

I was there renting a rifle and asked if they had any cheaper ammo to use in their rifle and they almost opened fire.

I remember that place. First time I rented a Glock Foh-tay*. I didn't even know I was not professional enough to shoot it .... but whatever.
