Emerson HD7
Just got myself a Kershaw 1670 TBLKST. This is by far the most solid, fastest opening one hander I have ever seen firsthand. There is absolutely no play in the blade whatsoever. Excellent grips as well.
Very nice for the $60 or so. The retail shown by the company is high as usual.

I saw their article in Tactical Knives, they look awesome. I wouldn't mind picking up one of their designs.
Spyderco Pikal
Shivworks Lil Loco
Embassy Special HAK
This is a very informative thread. Never really been a knife guy, which is probably odd living in a state where I cannot carry. But I was very impressed with the Kershaw mentioned on the first page, and now that I look at some of the other knives mentioned here I may just have to expand my collection a bit more.
Spyderco Police Stainless
Or
Benchmade CQC
Both old and beat up.
Spyderco Meerkat for the last few years.

ok, so far the mini-Cyclone has arrived
seems the fit of the Meerkat has spoiled me a bit lol. should be easy enough to get used to though.
the clip rides a bit lower on the knife body and therefore it rides higher in the pocket. I actually preferred the stealthier ride of the meerkat.
the assisted function (which can be deactivated) is pretty nice.
The blade length is just right. The only reason I looked for another EDC is that I finally admitted to myself to quit fighting the short length of the meerkat and get a 'proper' length blade lol.
typical business card for scale

Though I have been a "knife nut" from the time I was a kid my interest in blade designs as an adult has been mainly mission driven. I select/collect my knives from a specific point of view (civilian) and for a specific intended purpose (IE Defensive, Survival/Camping, Etc.) Its my belief that for those of us both military, and civilian alike, who believe in self preservation, the knife as defensive weapon should not be any more optional than a sidearm. To some this may sound shocking, but If I am attacked at a distance of arms length, I want a knife.....not a gun. In the modern world The blade doesn't supplant either the rifle, or the pistol, it supplements them by adding another tool for distances inside which a sidearms characteristics can become diminished. It is the soldiers tertiary, and the civilians secondary, the final layer between the threat, and your bare hands. Personal Defense = Layered Options

Don't do it, man. The knife bug just bit me and I seriously considered paying $700 for a Hinderer XM-18. Seriously these things get expensive.

You not a true collector unless you own the three wise men:
Strider
Sebenza
XM18
:D
joining this forum should come with a disclaimer. "caution, you will end up spending way too much money after seeing what you see here." :D

Oh, yeah.....and there's that Surefire folder I saw in Tac Knives too.....! LOL.
knives are tools that have always intrigued me as have guns and archery equipment. Any tool that you can kill your dinner with, dress it out, make fire and shelter and defend yourself with.....is a must have and an obsession for me.
crkt m21-14
zero tolerance 0300
as soon as it comes in my new one will be surefire delta folder
ok, the Benchmade arrived today.
its longer folded but fits the hand 'better'; more naturally perhaps. I would say different but I'll go with more natural.
the blade is longer as well.
with the axis lock you can snap it open :D
I think I'll EDC this one for a while first then the Kershaw.

Benchmade griptilian tanto SBKSN which I love other than how fast the paint on the handle starts to wear off after just a month of use.

1999-vintage Benchmade 910 Stryker
Leatherman Wave
And occasionally, for nostalgia's sake, a 1996-vintage Benchmade Bali-Song.
Speaking of nostalgia, I still carry my Benchmade Combat Talon every now and then.
Bought it around 1995.

strider tanto on my work rig
and the venerable leatherman wave
Benchmade Mini Griptilian, 1 in each front pocket.
Right now- skeletool and CRK Professional Soldier
The very first knife I ever made. Made out of a file that belonged to my Gramps.
It's similar to a strider ebs but with only a three inch blade.
I hope to get my gf to help me with pics so I can post some of my knives. I've gotten much better equipment and have come a long way since my first knife. There's just something about that knife, it carries great, feels good in the hand and is wicked sharp.
Spydercos these days. I alternate between a Persistence, a Delica and an Endura.
The Persistence has been in my pocket for the past three weeks.

I've carried Kershaw Ken Onion Leeks for almost 10 years now, before that SpyderCos.
Just last week I purchased my first Benchmade ... a Mini Barrage. I like it so far.

Off duty and playing- Chris Reeve Sebenza, Strider SMF or ZT0350ST as of late. At work a Benchmade Auto Stryker or Microtech LUDT. Been looking for a second knife for work, so that I can carry one on each side. Looking at the Spyderco Police G10.

EDC is my old Buck 110. Untill I find a replacement for it.aside from the fact that they lack a thumb stud, them old things are hard to replace arent they? i have several Benchmades and carried them for years, but have found myself dropping an old Buck in my back pocket lately and i cant really give a good reason why? i know theres better "tactical" knives out there, but im merely a civilian who hunts yearly so i have always had a soft spot for the Buck brand of knives. besides, i seem to have WAAAAY to much junk in my front pockets for a pocket clip folder anyway. LOL
anyone carry a mini-commander? been looking for one but wondered if folks carried it.
Just a plain old leatherman

every day. My only regret is that I should have gotten the left hand version. I carry it on my strong side and would prefer to deploy it from weak side.

it's ok. large cutting area. hard to sharpen because of the blade shape (for me, at least). i'm getting a strider in this week to replace it

These old Bucks just keep on going. Too many better knives that I can't make up my mind as to which one I want. Back when it was a heck of alot easier. Buck 110. That's what everyone had. Not much better back then to buy.

Buck Vantage. SV30 for $30-60. Good edc design. Nuff said.
i dont think i know a knife collector who doesnt have an old 110 somewhere in the collection gathering dust. they are nicely made enough for the 30 bucks they cost, and if you want a new one, head to wallyworld. i admit i was suprised when i found out what some of the older models are going for:eek:

I just switched out my Emerson CQC-7 after a year for an Emerson Mini CQC-8 Horseman.
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n318/cevtv/horseman-1.jpg
funny this thread made me wonder what my EDC would compare like to today's toys ! I have had it for many years its a old original Brend/Benchmade found out its worth about 4x what I paid for it back in the day :)
nice classic knife though
Honu,
Is it the same model I posted...Combat Talon (mod 600 I think)?
I really like the Kershaw Leek, too. I'm not big into knives but It's my favorite of any EDC knife I've ever had. It's nice and flat for pocket clip carry, the assisted opening is awesome, and the blade holds a decent edge for a knife of it's price.
i ordered a Victorinox Farmer monday, and it should be here tomorrow. ive always carried a SAK to accompany whatever larger knife im carrying at the time, but this will be the first one with alloy scales.
Honu,

yeah I think thats the model :)
not sure when I got mine keep wanting to think about 1988 or there abouts ? but could be wrong :) it was new :)
Benchmade Osborne 943, or a Spyderco Delica or Endura, depending on whether I an wearing lightweight shorts with pockets that are not as deep, or long pants.
Emerson CQC-6, Hideaway Knives, HAK, ti/carbon fiber (Warren Thomas) Leatherman Skeletool.
Oh, and today i carried my -98 Emerson Commander too :)
My six:

XM-18. If you can get one from Rick directly, it'll save you a LOT of money (but worth every cent regardless)!

ZT 0300
how big are those/easy to carry?
how big are those/easy to carry?
I have a 0302 and it is big and fairly heavy. When I carry it the weight and size are not that noticeable imo b/c the knife is pretty flat so it rides very well in the pocket.
However if your wearing jeans or the like expect to loose the function of w/e pocket the ZT is riding. Its a very nice knife though.
Benchmade AFO Tanto
Spyerco Miliary
Emerson Commander with the wave.
