View Full Version : Is RANGER T Series ammo impossible to get?

I've been wanting to buy a 50 round box of 45 acp to fill up my M&P mags with, but it's nowhere to be found. I can get Gold Dots at Cabelas no problem, but I want to replace my old stock of RA45SXT with something made in this decade. :p

Grant used to stock it, but it's all sold out. I guess it's just the same old L.E. shortage...

I feel your pain. All of the Ranger loads seem to come and go sporadically. I'm always chasing RA9B.

I'd like some more of that RA223M Match ammo 69 grain too. I bought a half case of it back in the day for a precision rifle class, and you can't find anymore.

Which version are you looking for? I sometimes have a spare box or two.

RA45T I think... just the plain old 230 grain (non +P)

We have one box of the + P version, but that is it.

Gunshows around Atlanta ususally have a few tables with a few boxes. $45 a box of 50 last I saw!

I appreciate it, but I'll wait for standard 230 since it's what I practice with and what I know the pistol runs well with.

Try www.sgammo.com
I've bought from them multiple times with no issues. Reasonable shipping.

Wow!! That's a find... never heard of the place, and it's in my college down about an hour away from here.

Well, I hope www.sgammo.com works out. I just ordered some .40SW and 9mm Ranger T ammo, as well as some S & B 6.8SPC ammo from them.

He's even got a few sleeves of Ranger 69 gr Match. I've been looking for that round, but his price is a little on the crazy side.

I usedt to buy Rangers from them but they have now implemented a new policy at the request of Winchester. They can only sell to first responders. You have to provide proof when ordering.

I could take a pic of my Ranger, HST and 75gr TAP stash and really piss you off!!! It is hard to find but local LEO stores have been doing pretty good in my area of having it. You have to be a LEO to purchase from the store or know a LEO to buy it for you. I would guess I have around 400 rounds of each 45 and 9mm and even more 75 grain TAP. Been buying it as I can find it or afford it.

Didn't know that, I buy over the counter there and they have never asked for ID.

I wouldn't be pissed. I just want a box or two of RA45T. Grant used to have shit piles of it, but I didn't have an M&P 45 at the time so I didn't pick any 45 ammo up.

ATK supplies Cabela's as one of their top 3 commercial customers.... so I can just pay a little too much for Gold Dots until WIN gets their asses in gear.

Well, I ordered on the 28th, and a big old box of ammo showed up today, April 1st, so I'm pretty happy so far.

I just happen to be sitting on more RA45T and RA45TP than I'll ever need.
shot about 450 rds of both in the last month and had 1 failure to fire with the +P

Why shoot so much of it??.... or any duty/carry load for that matter?

After reading a few threads in other forums about FTF due to hard primers { or a weak firing pin spring in my glock ,who knows}
I thought It would be a good idea to do a little backyard research.
I will be doing the same with P45HST1 and P45HST2 next, but not as many rounds.

How many rounds of the ammo one intends to carry do you recommend be tested in the gun before depending on it?

Depends on the gun I guess. A 1911 can never really be trusted in my experience. A glock or M&P that will run ball ammo probably doesn't need a whole lot of Duty ammo run through it in my oppinion.

I shot this round of RA45T into a phone book some of the talons did not uncurl(2) all the way so I took a set of Pliers and bent them out just to get a ideal Of the round

Phone books don't reveal much. There was a dude on TOS who had a "buddy" pick up his 9mm glock that was laying on the bed. He discharged the weapon into the back of the guy's arm (he was sitting at a computer desk back to the shooter)

Anyway, the ranger bullet bloomed perfectly in the guy's arm. He posted pics and everything.

I've bought quite a bit of 230gr standard pressure .45 from them in the last year or so. It's always back-ordered, but they have always delivered (even if it took a month or two). Haven't bought any 9mm 127+P+ from them, because I have plenty.
