The top cop in Las Vegas says a 31-year-old police officer is "fighting for his life" after he was shot in the leg and chest chasing a car theft and burglary suspect.

Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie identifies the officer wounded Tuesday night as Michael Madland, a three-year police veteran now in critical condition at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Gillespie says Madland's partner shot and killed the 26-year-old suspect, Damon Beal.

Beal was an ex-convict who police say ran from a stolen car and hopped block walls into back yards in a neighborhood several miles northwest of the Las Vegas Strip.

Another suspect, 45-year-old Marvin Lee Wilson, surrendered to police after a patrol car crashed into the stolen Mercedes to stop it.
Only good news is the ****er got put down by his partner.

A little additional info on these pieces of shit. http://www.lvrj.com/news/suspects-in-officer-involved-shooting-have-long-criminal-records-89080532.html

Marvin Lee Wilson and Damon Beal, the suspects in a Tuesday night shooting that left a Las Vegas police officer wounded and Beal dead, both have extensive criminal histories that include time in Nevada prisons.

Beal, 26, was sentenced to at least two years in prison for a violent assault of a woman in 2004. He pleaded guilty to battery with intent to commit a crime and unlawful taking of a vehicle.

According to court records, Beal viciously beat a 20-year-old woman, who had to be hospitalized.

The victim told a Las Vegas police detective that she was with a friend at the Suncoast on the night of Dec. 4, 2004.

They met up with Beal and another man after drinking at a casino bar, she told a detective. Beal drove the four of them in the victim's car, and he dropped off the victim's friend and the other man. Then he took the victim to a park at the corner of Vegas Drive and Rampart Boulevard.

The victim had fallen asleep, and when she awoke, Beal was trying to pry her legs open, she told police. She calmly told Beal, "Don't do that, no, don't do that," court records state.

Beal began punching her in the face and cursing her. He choked her with his left hand while punching her with his right fist, the victim told police.

She pleaded for him to stop while covering her face. He exposed himself and began punching her again. She opened the front passenger's side door and tried to escape, but he slammed the door on her legs.

He pulled on her hair and her dress and kept punching her. She fought back, opened the door and ran away, screaming, "Rape! Fire!"

She vomited during the interview with police, according to records.

The detective noted that the victim had multiple bruises on her face when the detective saw her at University Medical Center. Her right eye was black and blue and swollen. She had knots on her forehead and lips.

Police caught Beal in January 2005 while he was driving the victim's car.

Beal also had been arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Wilson, 45, was sentenced to a year in prison in 2004 after pleading guilty to possession of stolen property. He was accused of breaking into a southwest valley apartment and stealing an Xbox, a camcorder and jewelry, according to District Court documents. He was caught pawning the items.

Since 2000, Wilson has been arrested on charges of burglary, driving under the influence of liquor, obstructing a police officer, resisting a police officer and operating an unregistered vehicle.
