I just signed on with Clear (brand) 4G broadband internet service. It's month-to-month for $40 so I can cancel any time if it's crap.
I'm currently using a Sprint 3G card and it's okay but could be better. I'm giving 4G a whirl.

With that said, anyone using it? Houston JUST got 4G so it's hard to get opinions.

Have you tested your speed?

Have you tested your speed?

Yep. Its pretty slow. Streaming vids are a pain.

Go to www.speedtest.net and run a test. I’m curious what it is.

2 consecutive tests with the first server which is 150 miles away..
DL: 1.77 mb/s
UL: 0.31 mb/s

DL: 0.80 mb/s
UL: 0.30 mb/s

Server #2 is also about 150 miles away..
DL: 0.76 mb/s
UL: 0.22 mb/s

The above is with my Sprint 3G card. Yeah... Pathetic but manageable.

Below is a test using my AT&T DSL (WiFi signal).

DL: 5.35 mb/s
UL: 0.64 mb/s

The 4G stuff shipped overnight and I should have it in my hands some time tomorrow. I'll update with new numbers.

LOL They call that 4G. Heck it's still 3.5. No 4G speeds there.

Holy shit! 4G speeds? I think so.

I just ran a test on the 4G setup with the same server 150 miles away.

DL: 15.38 mb/s
UL: 0.45 mb/s

I think we have a winner.

No doubt. I'm pretty impressed with the performance for something that is "over the air".
I just did another random test and it showed 9.42 DL and 0.95 UL. Still a significant different even over my digital subscriber line.

Wow that's pretty quick! I'm running FIOS and its clocking at 9.61mbps download and 1.58mbps upload.
