Don't see too many postive shooting incidents coming out of Hawaii. My guess is it has something to do with their unconstitutional gun laws. http://www.kitv.com/news/23020567/detail.html

HONOLULU --
Two suspected robbers were seriously wounded Tuesday by a woman police said may have been defending herself and her wounded boyfriend.

The shooting happened on Kilea Place in Wahiawa Heights at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said two men armed with guns and zip-ties approached the home, which was rented by the couple and their two young children.

One of the suspects’ guns went off during a struggle with the male resident. The resident was slightly wounded. Police said the woman brought out a handgun and fired after she said one of the suspects pointed his gun at her. Police said there was an exchange of gunfire.

Neighbor Lita Romualdo said at first she thought the noise was fireworks, but then heard multiple shots in rapid succession. “So I ran to the bedroom and said, ‘Hey that is gun!' And my husband says, ‘Nah, it is firework.’ And I said 'You better get out over there.” She said she feared bullets would come through her house, which was just yards from the shootout.

Police said robbery suspects Shane Reginald Flores, 38, and Floyd Orsborn, 23, were both hit more than once. Orsborn was listed in critical condition Wednesday night.

They were arrested after police pulled over the alleged getaway car on Kamehameha Highway. Also arrested was the alleged getaway driver, Robert Logsdon III, 31.

The three suspects are being investigated for possible charges of first-degree attempted murder. The woman who shot two of them has not been arrested, police said.

Prosecutor Peter Carlisle says Hawaii law allows a person to use deadly force to defend themselves or others, if they fear they are in serious danger.

“You cannot use a gun to defend property. It has to be in response to deadly force,” Carlisle said. He was not commenting directly on the Wahiawa case.

This was the second time the couple faced robbers in their home. Last year, police reported two victims were tied up and robbed in the house by four armed suspects. Neighbors said after that incident the couple reassured them that it was a purely random incident, and nothing like that would ever happen again.

fact it happened twice makes me wonder if they are batu or pakalolo dealers or something

sadly home invasions in meth land have gotten so bad (I am from Maui) Hawaii has the worst meth problem of any state they are just very good at hiding it

when I moved to the mainland a few years ago Maui did a survey of blue collar workers and something like %48 of all workers said they were using meth to hold down 2-3 jobs

Hawaii gun laws sucked though so hope she no gets in trouble

A recent shooting incident in Wahiawa has prompted questions of the use of deadly force in self-defense. State law allows using deadly force if it is justified and reasonable but what does that mean?

When armed gunmen approached residents at this Wahiawa home and then fired a weapon hitting one of them, Hawaii's top defense attorneys say state law allowed the use of deadly force.

"Open season on them, open season," said attorney Michael Green.

"There's not a lot of sympathy to thieves and robbers and rapists and burglars so when these guys do get shot, a lot of times the vigilante so to speak is applauded," said attorney Victor Bakke.

According to state law, the use of deadly force is justified if someone believes deadly force is necessary to protect themselves or another person from death or serious bodily harm. The law does not require you to retreat if you're in your own home.

"If you're in your house and they come in and you believe that you're in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm or someone else is -- fire away!" said Green. "They have the right to do whatever they think is necessary that's reasonable and you're not going to find 12 people anywhere in the world that would object to that."

The apparent increase in robberies and burglaries have some questioning what is a reasonable response to a threat.

"If someone comes into my house and I've got my children and I've got my family to protect, somebody comes into my house they're dead. We'll shoot first we'll ask questions later," said Bakke.

"When they come in your and you find them in your home and they do anything that makes you believe that they're going to cause death or great bodily harm it's an open fire fight," said Green.

There have been several high-profile cases of homeowners and even farmers who've used deadly force to stop burglars and robbers.

"You want to come into someone's home, you go at your own risk," said Green.

"There's an old saying that it's better to be judged by 12 by carried by six, these decisions are made in a split second," said Bakke. "It would be up to 12 jurors to decide later but better than six pallbearers carrying you out."

Both Green and Bakke warn someone defending themselves can quickly become the aggressor.
Vigilante my ass, somebody should kick his!

Wahiawā gunfight 2nd incident at home
By David Waite
Advertiser Staff writer

A gun battle Tuesday night in Wahiawā that left three men injured was the second violent outburst at the home in a little more than a year.

The house at 133 Kīlea Place also was the scene of a home- invasion robbery on Feb. 17, 2009, involving four gunmen wearing black hooded jackets.

The latest incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a car pulled up in front of the home and two men got out armed with handguns and plastic zip ties, police said.

The gunmen ordered two women, ages 26 and 24, and a 27-year-old man to go back in the house. A 28-year-old man who was told to remain outside began struggling with the two intruders when one of their guns went off, according to police.

During the fracas, one of the gunmen pointed his weapon at the 28-year-old, at which point the older of the two women came back out of the house and fired a single shot at the intruders, triggering an exchange of gunfire, police said.

The skirmish lasted a few seconds before the man and woman were able to retreat into their house while the two gunmen, one of them critically wounded, ran to a waiting silver Volkswagen Jetta and sped off.

Patrol officers stopped a vehicle on California Avenue about 2 1/4 miles away and arrested its three occupants on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder.

The driver of the car was identified as Robert Logsdon III, 31, of a Lumikula Street address in the Crestview area of Waipahu. One of the passengers, Floyd Orsborn, 23, of a Koauka Loop address in the Pearlridge area, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

Another passenger, Shane Reginald Flores, 38, who did not furnish a local address, was taken to Queen's in stable condition with a single gunshot wound.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said a man who lives at the Kilea Place address was later taken in stable condition to a hospital, where he was treated for a single gunshot wound.

Police said that in the 2009 robbery, armed intruders tied up a man and a woman, both in their 20s, took items and money, then fled in the woman's car, which was later found abandoned on Mililani Cemetery Road.

Two of the three men arrested in connection with yesterday's incident have extensive criminal records, according to the Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center.

Flores was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison in December 1995 for manslaughter. He also has felony convictions for terroristic threatening, unlawful imprisonment and second- degree theft.

Logsdon's felony record includes multiple burglary convictions, most recently in 2002, and convictions for second- degree theft and multiple car break-ins

quick story

our truck a toyota 4x4 about the biggest stolen vehicle in the islands :)

anyway this batu boy stole our truck and they caught him in his driveway he got stuck !!!!! made so much noise the police were called by a neighbor !

so this guy had about 4 priors for car theft and a ton of other things on his record mostly breaking and entering I think around 20 of these !

so while he was still out after he stole my truck he made the mistake of stealing a back hoe from Young Brothers ! big mistake on Maui

so he went away for stealing the back hoe but not my truck

when he was released the prosecutor called and said that he was going to be out he only served a few months and that they had given them my home address and he was supposed to come buy and pay my restitution of a few hundred bucks !!!!!

I said are you nuts to give him my address and tell him to come over in person and pay me !!!!
he said it would be OK

needless to say he never came buy ?

but sadly the system in the islands is HOSED and its mostly whos uncle or aunty you are connected to etc....

Bruddah is definitely a dealer. No way you get TWO home invasion visits accidentally.

All that matters in this case (sadly) is if the perp's family went to high school with anyone in the prosecutors office or HPD. It's corrupt as hell here.

Our laws suck too. If you steal a car, get chased by the cops, and jump into the passenger seat, you can't be prosecuted for auto theft. When the police arrest you, you have to be "in control" of the vehicle to be found guilty.

Oh, and the cops protect the chop shops under the freeway in case you think you may get your car back.
