Hello,

Since I have not come across much on the Sabre XR-15, I thought I would post some pictures of my new carbine.

The rifle is a Sabre Defence XR-15 (model #90243) with a 14.5" chrome lined barrel (1/7 twist). The rifle comes with a soft case, cleaning kit, sling, and cable lock. It does not come with a carrying handle or BUIS. (The carrying handle pictured here is a spare.)

The fit and finish is very nice except for a couple of nit picks:

1) There is a small gouge in the side of the lower receiver, just aft of the bolt release.
2) The etching on the barrel isn't the nicest I've seen.

More to follow after I take her to the range.

Not to be a nitpicker but that staking job on the carrier key looks weak.

Nice photos!

Looks like you need to stake the Gas Key. Search for this and you will find lots of good info.

let us know how she shoots!

A quick update on Sabre's customer service...

Sabre's Director of Sales and Marketing sent me an email and made an unsolicited offer to re-stake the bolt carrier key and replace the lower receiver. Sabre requested that I send the entire rifle to them so they could "ensure the new lower is a perfect fit." They even offered to arrange for the shipping.

Now I understand why they have repeat customers.

when did Sabre start putting the Thundercats logo on their lowers??

i always liked sabre lowers because they didnt have some stupid ****in animal or other obnoxious logo.

I think they put that logo on the complete guns. The two lowers I have don't have the kitty on them.

UPS delivered my XR-15 yesterday. Sabre re-staked the bolt carrier key and replaced the lower receiver. Many thanks to Mike and Rick at Sabre Defence for the outstanding customer service.

How did they find out about the carrier key?

That's what I was wondering.

OP is it possible to get an "after" photo of the restaked carrier key?

New pictures please. Would like to see the "perfect fit for the upper and lower". Does not look like a "bad" fit to me....

Do you work for Sabre or have any affiliation with them? How would they know to contact you, unsolicited, to re-stake the key? Even if they have a lurker here they would not know your name and address. You did not mention being contacted through M4C so it just sounds fishy.

I do not work for Sabre. I was contacted via email generated from another AR forum. When Sabre offered to look at the small gouge on the lower receiver I asked if they would look at the staking on the bolt carrier. In the course of several emails, they stated if I sent the rifle back to them, they would ensure the bolt carrier was staked properly and the lower receiver was replaced.

Picture of new staking is alittle dim and hard to see. Did it displace the metal against the bolt heads so it is actually gripping them? The picture looks like just a little deeper redo of the original job. Get thee to a MOACKS!
