A Broken P220

The magazine catch stop punched through the frame of my duty weapon while practicing a reload. I fired 4 rounds, ejected the empty mag and was unable to insert a fresh mag. I noticed the mag release was protruding on the left side of the frame. I took a closer look and noticed the hole. This was a PD gun issued to me in 2004. I had fired about 10k through it. Sig replaced the weapon with a new P220. Has anyone seen a similar failure? The LE rep told me that he had not seen a P220 fail in this manner.

I have never ever heard about that kind of frame failure on any Sig I am aware of. :confused:

It very rare but it can obviously happen...

Yes, I've seen this before. Rolan Craps over on Sigforum had a new P220R Carry that did this and the gun was brand new.

As fine a weapon as Sig makes they are machines and can fail......... but not often.
