Does anyone know if the M&P 9mm is available in the dark earth brown? I love my 45 and looking to get a 9, but I have never seen one, nor see one listed on S&W's website.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the 45 is the only one available in the dark earth color.

I'm wondering how plausible it would be to strip it down to the polymer, lighten it, and rit dye it as desired. It's more of a passive interest, but I'd be interested in this for the M&P I know is going to eventually have a miniRDS, can, and CTC grips on it.

What paint did you use and how is it holding up?

Aluma Hyde 2, and it's holding up well. The main wear areas are on the trigger guard (where my kydex holster grabs it) and near the rail where it rubs most on my leather holster. There's black poking through at both places but it isn't flaking off.

I did kind of a lousy job on that gun. My coats were too thick. The one thing I did right was an extended low temp bake. I think AH2 loves to be baked, event though Brownells says it doesn't need it.
