as an evolutionary convert to striker fired-poly 9mms from .45-because-they-dont-make-a-46 1911s, i've seen both camps and their view of the other.
1911 guys: Get a Man Gun.. glocks are for kids, women, and sell-out LEAs.
glock guys: Get a Man Gun.. 1911s are for metrosexuals, old ****ers, and assholes with more money than ability.

I was at a handgun class several years ago, one one of the shooters told me to get a "real man's gun". I was using a Glock 17, and he was using a S&W 5906...... :o
9mm Luger:
European popgun round that’s only popular because the ammo is cheap for a centerfire cartridge. Cheap ammo is a good thing for 9mm aficionados, because anything bigger and more dangerous than a cranky raccoon will likely require multiple well-placed hits. Wildly popular all over the world, mostly in countries where people don’t carry guns, and cops don’t have to actually shoot people with theirs.
:D:D
What is JMB?
OMG! What are they teaching kids in school these days?
ETA: When I was kid, I read biographies of John M. Browning, Jim Bowie, and John T. Thompson in my GRADE SCHOOL library!

Gotcha.
The caliber debate is really a silly one (as everyone knows that shot placement matters above all else).

Sorry,
Glock:
Butt-ugly plastic shooting appliance with the ergonomics of a caulking gun. Five-pound trigger with no external safety makes it ill suited for its target market (cops who shoot a hundred rounds a year for qualification). Favored by gangbangers because the product name is short and rhymes with other short, rap-friendly words.
:D
Behave, it could almost be confused with the Journal of Molecular Biology. Not really, but that journal is pretty good.

John Moses Browning's 1911, not as clumsy or random as a Glock; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age...
BTW, I carry a Glock 19 daily but I still have a soft spot for the 1911.

Ich packe Glock ein, meine Glock gehe pop pop pop!
I had to because of the rap reference.
and I'll keep my Austrian made gun over an over complicated have to fit the parts before swapping them and make sure it can eat the ammo you just bought 1911. Science has evolved since 1911.
Awwwww lay off mnoe he's a TN fan!! Life's hard enough for him already!! LOL!!
No worries mate, I had to think about it for a second too.

Until I read Jim Cirillo's book, I would have agreed with you 100%... but after reading the story about the guy that was shot 11 times in the head point blank by .38s and WALKED to the ambulance under his own power... I think there is something to the caliber (or bullet design) debate.
Nice cartoon though! And I definitely know JMB... c'mon people!

No, it still applies. There is a VERY narrow window when shooting people in the head with a flat nosed pistol caliber bullet.
The head is extremely well armored and oval. Bullets tend to hit and then follow the curvature of the skull.
There was a SWAT shooting just up the road from me. The bad guy took a 147gr 9mm out of an MP5 at about room distance to the forehead. The bullet compacted and fell to the ground. The guy lived and was just fine.
Shot placement is everything.

A retired SOF Operator once said, "It's a Glock world; everything else is in the periphery" :p
I totally agree. I own 9mm pistols, but for range use only! I'm not willing to bet my life or my family's life on anything smaller than a .45ACP!
Mongo Lives!
Shot placement is everything.
