I am a Glock man, but before the Glocks I carried the Sig 228/229 and I have a fondness for them in my heart.

This week I saw a Sig 229 SAS with great trigger DA/SA but the one thing that is bothering me is it has a total capacity of 14 rounds in 9mm.

I heard that Mec Gar makes mags that are 15 rounders and fit flush in the 228, with 18 to 20 rounders that stick out. Will this mags work in the Sig 229?

Yep. 15 rounders are flush fit. MecGar makes the Sig factory mags as well, so there's no drop off in quality between Sig-labeled mags and the MecGar ones.

Can't comment on the 18 and 20 rounders, I would certainly assume they would protrude a bit.

I know the 15 rounders are flush fit and the 18 and 20 rounders protrude but that does not bother me. So you are saying the 15 rounders will fit in the 229 and not only in the 228 as it shows on the Mec Gar web site?

9mm 229 is the replacement for the 228. Exact same gun, with the exception of the slide construction.

Yes...I've had a crapload of the MecGar 15 rounders and I've never touched a P228. They worked well in my P229 9mms.

They are dimensionally the same as the Sig Sauer P229 13 round magazine.
