Is there a consensus as to which AR mags are the highest quality and most dependable ?
Thanks
Magpul's Pmags have served me well.

Thanks, Looks like I can't go wrong with Pmags.
Are their "windowed" mags as good as the basic pmag ?
How are Colt factory 20 & 30 mags ?
Before the mods close this thread like the thousand other "what's the best mag" threads. Pmags will be the answer of 98% of the population on M4C, then lancer then H&K. Windowed are just as good. An unnecessary extra but I like them too. As for your Colt mags, you will end up paying extra for the same quality mags as a standard GI issue mag with a pony stamped on it.

The window Pmags are very good, but they are a convenience and I personally find them not necessary, since most consider mag changes as a "planned event". Running them "dry/empty", then becomes an emergency reload. I like both.
Colts are very good mags, but...NHMTG mags are the civilian equivalent marketing side I believe, of OKAY Industry, which produced the mags for Colt or used to. DSG mags are also very high quality USGI type mags.
http://www.44mag.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NH30 now $9.99.

I have good luck with:
PMAG's (black)
Lancer
USGI with Magpul followers installed
Tango Down

PMags; bad luck with Lancers in my sample size of one person.
I use black PMAG30W but then again I am a little biased. ;)

Is there a quality reason you specified black? Or is it just aesthetics?

probably just by far the most popular color
I have PMAGs. I like them for the ability to flex and return to original shape, specifically the feedlip.
At a class one time I ran my aluminum mag dry, ripped it out, threw it on the ground and continued with the next mag.
When I picked that first mag up, that BRAND NEW mag, the feedlip was bent. Considering I had the option to avoid bending things back into place (the PMAG) I went with combat polymer.
Having said that I do have NHMTG 20rnd aluminum for nostalgia type reasons :D and I use them in highpower competition along with 20rnd PMAGs
Right now I have more 20s than 30s. Sniper clips for the win :D

Yes. This is the hardest of the materials and less likely to break.

Thank you.
Have there been issues with the colored ones? (specifically FDE for no particular reason other than that's the only color other than black that I own.)
Thank you.

You cant go wrong with pmags, better quality and cheaper than pmags. I have some foliage greens with windows... windows are cool, but it's not round for round. You only know when you have several or, ten or less. The basic pmags are just as good IMO. Look around the net for sales on them. I got mine for $10.

.....Sorry, I meant PMAGS are better than USGI's. Thanks for catching that!
