I am debating the value of getting a 22lr conversion for my G17. I have found a 2 used conversions, one a Ciener conversion and the other an advantage arms. Both I can get for pretty cheap. I was wondering if anyone runs these or has any experience.

I have the Advantage Arms kit and I love it! It's perfect for practicing and as long as you stick with recommended ammo they're stone reliable.

Cool, I have found a used one for 150. I am tempted to get it. I am trying to learn about it before someone else gets it.

If it's an LE kit that's a hell of a screaming deal!!! BUY IT!!!

I also have the Advantage Arms kit and am very happy with it. The kit is great for training/cheap practice and is lots of fun to shoot. Like M4arc said, use quality ammo and it will be dead reliable. I shoot CCI Mini-Mags through the gun and have never had a failure with the 1000+ rounds fired.

Thanks! I am waiting to here back from the seller. How does it run on the federal bulk pack?

What ammo does yours prefer?

I have a number of AA kits. They are extremely useful and have given me great service. They all use the Remington golden bullets almost exclusively.

I'll have to go look (and I'm in a lazy mood right now so it could be awhile) but I believe that Federal ammo, any Federal ammo, is NOT recommended.

ETA: instead of getting off my lazy ass I used the internet for something worthwhile (besides porn): http://advantagearms.hostasaurus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=AASOS&Category_Code=GLKRecommended

I've been on a waiting list for almost 2 months. I think I've been forgotten. Very discouraging.

That has been my experience with the AA kit that I have on one of my G19s.

Ciener's customer service sucks - multiple posts on other forums will confirm this - have a good friend who got hosed by them.

AA is GTG - good unit and good CS

Negative on the Federal bulk, weak and will not run. I have the 17 ad 19 LE kits, nice and work well with right ammo.

works for me

Aquila yellow high velocity-100% on a new kit
CCI, Remington golden bullet, Any Wolf all work great, occasional burp. The purple boxed Eley sport works ok also.

When taking it apart, hold slightly out of battery to release trigger, otherwise you will peen the breech face and cause a barb to form acting as a hook on the casing

yeah i was gonna say, i've heard a lot of bad things about ceiner's CS. seems like their products are about average, but support is nonexistant.

i've heard pretty much nothing but good things about the AA kits..

i keep debating trading my ruger MKII for an AA kit, but that damn mkII works with EVERY KIND OF 22 AMMO! i have never had such a stone reliable 22 automatic in my life, and i can't help but think i'd be a fool to give it up.

I have an AA kit that I use on both my 22 and 35. One of the best purchases made in the last couple of years (the AR 22 kit was another).

Does any one know if the AA kits will work on the gen4 Glocks?

Thanks

Since the AA kits are hard to come by, I'm looking forward to the Tac Solutions Glock kit.

+1 for the AA kit. I'va had one for about 2 years now and it's been great. Mine is very reliable, even with Remington Subsonic. Much better than the Sig Mosquito it replaced. If you can find one, you will not be disappointed.

I got very lucky with getting my kit. I placed myself on the Top Gun Supply (http://www.topgunsupply.com/advantage-arms/) in stock email notfication list. After being notified by email it was in stock I immediately ordered mine and within fifteen minutes they were sold out again.
