I'm looking for some black rear sights for my S&W M&P pistols. I would like a "drop-in" sight that doesn't require fitting. Any ideas?

10-8 Performance or Warren, either one.

I'm not having any luck with the two 10-8's I bought.

How about filling the white dots on the stock rear sight with matte black paint?

Worked for me. Cost: $0.

Heinie also has a plain rear available.

This is a great option which I've used in the past. If it's just the white dots bothering you, I'd think about doing this.

In my limited experience the Heinie sights required some filing to fit. I have the Bowie rear sight on my M&P 9L fit just fine.

I agree but I didn't use black paint. I used RTV black silicone. Stays on great and if you want to sell it or something then just take the small end of a paperclip and pull it out. It comes out in one chunk extremely easy. I've got over 2k rounds in one particular 1911 and the silicone has worked perfect.

I have 10-8s on two M&Ps. Neither was a "Drop-in" installation, but I really like the sight picture, once installed.

I am considering trying Warren Tactical's on a third. I can't decide yet, but may go 3-dot over plain black rear for CCW. I just can't warm up to the 2-dot set-up to this point.

Um... Glock 19?

No. I attempted to put them in a fullsize M&P9 and a M&P9 Pro. Both sights were noticeably larger than the factory ones I was trying to replace. I tried filing down one but never got it small enough to start. I want to replace the sights on all of my M&P's so I'm looking for an easier solution.

I'm sorry, I meant you could get a G19 and have little or no problems with almost every sight available.

I put 10-8 sights on my three M&P's and the first two were drop in while the third needed a lot of filing. First two were done about two years ago, while third was done a few months ago. Maybe 10-8 changed something?

Already suggested via PM to the OP, but I rather like the look of these:

I doubt it is a problem with S&W's machining of the slide dovetails.

I purchased a Warren Tactical rear sight last week from SKD Tactical and it was a drop in fit on my FS M&P. I had previously used the 10-8 and it required fitting.

I love the Warren I have on mine.
