Hey guys,

I recently spend some time trying to decide what route I wanted to go to be able to shoot .22LR out of my AR. I decided on a complete upper from Tactical Solutions. I looked at conversion kits, but I just didn't like the idea of shooting all those .22 rounds out of my main upper. I also looked at the complete .22 rifles offered by Colt, S&W, etc. But, I liked the complete upper option because it allowed me the best opportunity to practice with the exact lower I am used to on my main rifle.

The upper I bought is from Tactical Solutions, and includes their SBX barrel. I called Tactical Solutions and was told by a lady there that they made a limited run of only 200 of these uppers with the SBX barrel installed. I thought you guys might like to see some more detail on this set up, as there may not be a lot of them available for you to look at locally. I was surprised to find this upper at my local shop, which is where I bought it. I paid $580 for it, so it definately wasn't the cheap route, but I think I will be happy with it.

I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but will this weekend, and will report back with function and accuracy comments. Another poster on a different forum posted a 10 shot group at 50 yards covered by a nickel using this set up. If mine will do that, I'll be more than happy.

Here are some pictures:

I am using a Bravo Company lower.

The barrel is actually only 12.25" long, and it has the shroud pinned to the end, giving it the needed 16" to avoid being considered an SBR. Here is the pinned shroud:

Inside the shroud, the end of the barrel is threaded, so a suppressor can be attached, and only add minimal length to the weapon:

Here are some better pics of the included stainless bolt carrier group:

This is the underside of the upper. When the upper is not attached to the lower, the charging handle does not retain the BCG. Minor gripe, but I've dropped the BCG a few times, so now I keep it secured in the upper with a rubber band:

Sorry for all the pictures; hopefully you won't mind seeing the details! Let me know if you have any comments, or if I can answer any questions. Thanks. :)

I like it. That would be very cool to run with a suppressor.
