I just ordered up a BCM LW middy with a DD 12" lite rail and have two questions.

1: Do midlength uppers usually run OK with an H buffer?

2: Are the low pro gas blocks on full BCM uppers pinned, or are they secured with set screws?

Can't wait for it to get here!

1) yes middys can run fine with H. I run the same upper/buffer setup actually

2) set screws im guessing, I havent checked mine

It is likely a dimpled barrel with those set screws. Should be GTG, especially in that location. It is very protected. I've run that type of setup for a while now and have had no problems with the screws moving. I suspect BCM has used some sort of thread locker on those screws, like Roksett etc. If you feel like set screws aren't sturdy enough you could have it pinned or stake the set screws in place, that in combination with the dimple will not let the block go anywhere.

I emailed BCM 2-1/2 weeks ago and asked that very question. Here is their reply:

"Vltor gas block. Dimple, set screw, loctite."

Thanks for the replies. Durability of the gas block was my primary concern, but given that it's BCM & hidden deep under the rail I won't worry about it. Seems alot of people running this type of gas block from BCM with success.
