I am thinking about buying this package. Is this a good quality set-up?

I had a similar Vltor on my previous AR. You can't go wrong with one.

i love VLTOR products, especially the EMOD stock. fyi, there's a new stock coming out soon called the IMOD. i suggest taking a look at it before you lock yourself in to either.

While not my personal favorite, the quality is as good as it gets.

If you haven't read this article (http://www.03designgroup.com/technotes/ar15-buttstock-considerations), I highly recommend it. Also, might want to do some research and see if your AR already has a milspec buffer tube before you plop down the extra $70 for the combo kit. The EMOD is the only after market stock I've used, so I can't really compare it to others, but I've taken mine on two Iraq deployments and loved it.

Well they did sue Magpul for stealing the stock design they stole from LMT:rolleyes:

I've always known vltor is the shit as far as quality, but I want to buy the package for my build. And I wanted to make sure the components not particularly the stock itself, which I like is for sure "mil-spec" or better? Sorry for the confusion of the question.

Bottom line: I like the stock. Should I buy just the stock alone because there are better receiver kits? Or will this one be just as good as any other kit?

thx

So if I read this right, you're wondering if you should get the combo kit with the Vltor receiver extension? Depends on if you want a 4, 5, or 6-position receiver extension, I suppose. Vltor's extension is a 5-position, although if that's what you want I think I'd buy it separately and get an upgraded buffer and action spring. There are better deals on the parts kit anyway, check BCM for one.

I have one of the kits, just got it delivered this week from Rainier.
Its sitting on table next to me :p
quality is top shelf, as expected.
Do you have a specific question I can answer ?

Just got my Imod from SKD, and I'm impressed. No play or wobble on my extension. Feels almost as tight as a CTR with the friction lock on. The cheek weld feels great, and it really balances out my BCM lightweight middy well.

Not really, just wanted to make sure the "parts" were mil spec and all that. I just wanted to buy a kit vs buying all the separate parts that go into it. Thanks

The new IMOD is nice also.

I got mine from SKD last Saturday. Mounted it up on a BCM tube kit. Very pleased.

I replaced an ACS I found too clunky.

Can anyone explain why the IMOD is less expensive than the EMOD? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but I am just curious.
