Is it better then the new M4-1000? Only thing is the 2000 is about 300 more than the 1000. I was originally looking at the G5 but the price was a bit much for me right now.
ETA: Post some pics Robb!!! Dont hold out Mr. NFA

In shorthand. I had two M4-2000s (1 old, 1 newer) both are being replaced eventually! with M4-2000s with the lock. They've had my 2 since Jan 31st and I haven't yet received anything thus far to replace them. Both were shooting loose in as little as 5 rounds.

What he said, Mine tends to shoot loose in a couple rounds on three different mounts as well. Get the lock if you are going with ACC.

If I were buying 2 .223 suppressor and had to do it over again I'd likely get a Surefire or OPS Inc for quick attach cans or cans that thread right to the muzzle from SWR, Gemtech or AAC. And when not running suppressed I would use a Vortex FH handtight.
A little bird told me that NATO intends on using the Smith G6A2 Vortex as a host coupler for suppressors as standard.
I've been more impressed by the KAC FHMB mount -- but they seem to be restriciting the the PDW's these days -- the nice thing about them is they act as a sacrificial (initial) baffle for the can - thus prolong the suppressor if used during suppressive applications.
I'd post pics of the 15th model sitting in my safe but the collar that came with it didn't fit so I had to send the 6933 barrel in for custom fitting.
I'll be sure to post up when I get it back. On first glance I like the can and the system though.
I'm surprised to hear so many people say that their AAC cans were shooting loose as everything I ever read on the internet said that wasn't possible.;)

Hey Voodoo...
Depending where you are located in VA, I'll let you shoot/examine my YHM 556 QD.
I am located in SE VA and I will be in/around NOVA this weekend 11-13. I get to go to a Marymount Graduation...

I think by 'shooting loose' they mean 1/2 a click as they settle into the last possible valley of the mount. They never shoot loose in keep on unscrewing. The spring is way too powerful for that.

I beg to differ.
Both of mine would shoot loose 1 click in 3 rounds and 2-3 clicks in 10-15 rounds. If it were weak springs I would think they would be replacing the springs and not my whole suppressors with the new M4-2000s with the locks. They received them on Jan 31st 2007 and I still haven't received my new cans. Luckily I had no baffles strikes.
How many clicks loose until it's loose enough for a baffle strike?
Rsilvers,
I am still struggling with mine shooting loose, like as in it will continue to rotate off as I shoot. I have tried a new spring, bending a spring and on three mounts on 3 different barrel lengths. There have been times I have had to twist the can back with about 5+ turns to re-tighten.
Now it could be user error, but how hard can it be to tighten a can down. I love the can but it still does not have my 100% confidence. Right now, I would never consider shooting a class with it as I am way too afraid to shoot a full mag through it without checking to see if it is still tight after every few rounds.
Gotm4 -- I will find out what is going on.
MFS1589 -- there are exactly two full turns on the ACME threads on the mount. It is impossible that yours has unscrewed 5 turns.
Sorry I was unclear, I am speaking in turns of my wrist.
MFS1589,
Is it the 1/2-28 threading to the barrel which you mean, or the QD part of the mount? If it is the 1/2-28 threading, you should torque it on harder and/or use two drops of Rockset which is included with the mount.
It is the QD part, meaning the can is moving on the mount, not the mount moving on the barrel.
The same type of issue GotM4 reports. "shoot loose 1 click in 3 rounds and 2-3 clicks in 10-15 rounds"

Hi-
I am very sorry for your delay. I was unfamiliar with your situation, so I personally looked into it this morning.
I believe that we agreed to upgrade your silencers to the new Ratchet-Lock mounting system primarily because you are a moderator on this board, not because of an unscrewing problem. This was offered without standard inspection/repair protocol. Your silencers were not tested for unscrewing until after seeing your post this morning. AAC has never replaced a M4-2000 for unscrewing. Your silencers did not unscrew this morning during testing. This leads me to believe that the issue could be your flash hider. We should probably receive the flash hider back for evalution, and replace it if needed. Again, at no charge.
Again, we are very sorry for the delay and any hassle this has caused you. The replacement could have been handle very quickly if we were not upgrading you to the new M4 Mod 07 with the Ratchet-Lock mounting system. There have been a few delays in production, which has resulted in your long wait. Your replacement silencers are out for the final process, the SCARmor finishing. The two upgraded units will ship to you promptly, with manuals, pouches, and new flash hiders.
Thank you for your support, patience, and understanding. Please post a review of the the silencers as soon as you have an opportunity to try them out.
Please don't hesitate to contact me directly with any further questions.
Thanks again,
Kevin

I, for one, am glad to see a post like this. I have not been terribly impressed with the AAC public image to date, but posts like this can go a long way to turn things around. Even more so if they are backed by genuine intentions and followed-up on with integrity.
Thank you. Keep it up and I am certain I will be sending some of my business your way.

Thanks for bringing me up to date. I wasn't getting much info on the phone other "another 2 weeks" everytime I would call checking on them. So you can see the source of my frustration.
I will definitely report here how they work etc when they come back. I ran both cans on two different rifles that I currently own and another which I sold. Both cans would come loose on all three ARs.
2 have the old style flash hider (the one that slide over the barrel a tiny bit). And one of them has a M4-2000 SOCOM length or whatever it's called and is now perm. attached to a shortened Noveske Afghan for a total length of 16". Randall Rausch did the barrel shortening, threading and perm. attach on the Noveske and 10" LMT barrel.
One of my customers shot my 10" LMT with a M4-1000 a few weeks ago, and shot at least 30 rounds and it didn't shoot loose at all. While it's not a scientific test but that leads me to believe that there's nothing wrong with my mount.
Thanks,
Robb

AAARRRGGHH!! Damn NMCI is blocking the pictures oh well will have to wait until I get home.
I read a review on Silencertests.com about a can SRT makes. They said it was 10 decibels quieter to the shooters ear than the competition and had less carbon fouling.
I read a review on Silencertests.com about a can SRT makes. They said it was 10 decibels quieter to the shooters ear than the competition and had less carbon fouling.
I tried to duplicate that and it was not anywhere near 10dB quieter for me. It had less blowback than an M4-2000 (2006 version) but more than a 2007 AAC SPR/M4 can.
http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9399&start=0
"I wanted to test a claim that the SRT Typhoon with the ATLAS mount has NO gas blowback in the face. My results are that it not only has gas blowback in the face, but has more than the new AAC silencer.
I took my M4 and M855 ammo and an H2 buffer, and got these rates of fire (rpm).
SPR/M4.....................652
762-SD (2007)...........652
SRT Typhoon/ATLAS..678
M4-2000 (2006).........700
The more blowback/backpressure a silencer has, the more it would raise the cyclic rate.
The SPR/M4 can was exactly the same as the 762-SD when that .308 can was shot on the M4. Really low blowback.
The SRT Typhoon can had less blowback than the 2006 M4-2000, but more than the SPR/M4 can. It was closer to the rpm of the old M4-2000 than the SPR/M4 can.
SRT's marketing states: "no gases" and "non-existant gas blowback." In reality it appears to be in between the two AAC models.
I would encourage others to adopt this kind of testing so you can see it for yourself. I used the PACT shot timer."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwKQ6zQmuB8
Wow. Watch the video and listen to the reports. Then watch it and pay attention to the needle on the meter.
I was surprised at the first round pops of some of those cans and the SRT was pretty loud all the way through...
Where was the oven mitt robert? ;)

You'll have to talk to your dealer. I went through ADCO and evidently they made the collar, or had it made, or something. They shipped one collar that was nowhere near fitting and after I sent my barrel in they shipped two that fit perfectly.
AT least if you go through ADCO they should know the dimensions now.:p
Steve at ADCO WILL get your collar on right. I know of several people that have used him for the mounting of their collars and they are happy.

Yep, that's how my 9mm pictured above is. It's just over 10" long I believe and even with the TROS adapter, the Matrix9 still gets it about 1" or so shorter than my 16" with A2.
The person who took that picture cheated a little though- or at least the rear of the carry handles make it look that way. May just be the difference between an A2 and A3.

On Monday I got my 2 new M4 2000s with the lock from AAC. I must say these are very nice compared to the old ones. These appear to be lighter and shorter and they lock up very well. I'll post a review of them in a few weeks. With the can mounted on this 10.3" LMT it's roughly a half or so inch shorter than a 16" M4 barrel with an A2 comp. I think AAC knocked it out of the park with this design.

I thought I really wanted an SBR until I got one. Luckily it was 9mm and I had a 9mm can. Everything was cool until I got the BCM 11.5" upper. Now I hate it because it looks like an amputee.
Now I have to have a suppressor for it too!

That's the 416-SD. The weight, mount, and POI shift repeatability are frickin great. The 6.8SPC barrel and can use the old style mount, but I haven't had any of the problems with that mount that some have had. Switching between barrels has a little under MOA shift with cans mounted. The MRP is an unbelievable platform. Here's a pic of the 11.5" 6.8SPC setup with the 6.8M4-2000:
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2/shark3-1/Picture001-1.jpg
Also, this is a pic showing the mounts for each. The 6.8 mount is the old "SOPMOD" mount and reflexes the can back over the barrel, so the handling between the two is very similar.
