Ar15 with scope on the hand rail

Is there any disadvantages to having the scope mounted up that high above the barrel as far as shooting at targets at any range? thx robert

I assume you mean carry handle? awkward cheekweld (or lack of) would be the obvious. What kind of scope? ACOG or a red dot? traditional scope?

Actually its a 4x16x40 scope and I bought a check pad from blackhawk it works great and is held on firmly with straps I can pull it off in like 2seconds and put it back on in the same
