Thinking about adding this switch to my carbine for better ambi control. My main question is does it snap on over the rail, or do you have to slide it on from the front or rear. I would hate to have to re-zero (because of having to remove my front MBUS) just to install this pressure pad, work is busy and range time limmited.

Every place I checked they are sold out. I was thinking about ordering direct from Surefire. That will probably take quite a while to get direct from them though.

The SRxx pressure switch snaps on to rails.

can it be attached to any Surefire light? I have a 6P and another I don't know the name of.

It works properly with Surefire lights attached with switch socket tailcaps, such as the Surefire XM07 (http://www.surefire.com/XM07-Remote-Tailcap-Switch-Classic-Millennium), UE07 (http://www.surefire.com/Remote-Tailcap-Switch-Assembly-for-Scout-Light) or XT07 (http://www.surefire.com/Remote-Switch-Assembly-for-X300).

Edit: The 6P style Surefire can take the XM07 tailcap. So you are in luck.

So unless there is an Surefire switch socket tailcap for the 6P, I believe you are so out of luck.

so i need to change my tailcap and replace it with a Surefire UM07 type pressure pad/tailcap right?

As noted, it snaps on. It has provisions for wrapping a zip tie around it, also.

Sure Fire has MAP, so everyone will advertise the same price, you will have to see if some one offers a "sale", or "call for pricing".

The XM07 switch will work with the 6P body. If you can find the discontinued UM(?) tail cap, which just has the socket, it will also work. I have a "Classic" weapon light, that I added the UM tail cap to, and am awaiting a LED bulb, to upgrade it. Add a good mount, and I've breathed some new life into an older light. Will eventually get the ST switch for it also.

So is there any other way to run a pressure switch with a 6P or should I just get a different light?

You could look for the old school "classic" pressure pad tail cap from SureFire, but it won't take the SR pad, it has a dedicated pad and wire.

I've also seen aftermarket tailcaps and sswitch pads, like tacstar, and what not, but have no idea of their quality.

Most people run a 6P, because its fairly inexspensive, adding on all the extras, will likely make it more expensive, then if you had just got the weaponlight in the first place.

I understand that this is what your working with, but you'll have to replace the tail cap, and get the SR switch, it may be "better", to just get a new dedicated light, and keep the 6P for what it was meant for, a handheld.

Good deal about the snap on. I am going to order one up for my M300 mini scout.

Does anyone know what the length of the SR07 switch is(The actual switch, not the wire.), or how many rail slots it takes up? My apologies for resurrecting a two year old thread, I just didn't want to start a whole new one for such a simple question. I did a quick Google on it, but was not able to find my answer. Thanks in advance.

It takes about 5 rail slots I think and you can get the switch cable in different lengths. I have an SR05 I beleive, it's 5' long.
