Hey guys how many of you have broken your castle nut wrench tooth? I have over the last five years of being in the corps broken three of these. One DPMS, one PROMAG, and unsure of the other. They all cost me on average $20.00
Seems as they all make them out of very cheap metal and there stamped out. I made a few out of stainless on the cutting laser and want to know if guys out there might use these or if I'm just to abusive to my gear.
other thing i noticed is that the armorers wrench is solid but way to BIG! I do not want that monster in my range bag, or in my deployment tool box.
Feedback?

I've broken a few of those stamped steel ones.
I find that the nicest one on the market is from the HammerHeadRifleTool (http://www.hammerheadrifletool.com/HammerHead_Rifle_Tool/HammerHead_Rifle_Tool_Home.html) it works really well.

+1 for the hammerhead. I no longer dread breaking a staked castle nut.
Here is another option.

Tony's Custom Uppers stock wrench (http://www.tonyscustomuppers.com/cart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=72) won't break the bank for $15.

That's the one I have. Someone gave it to me years ago.

Sears and Home depot both carrier 3/8 torque wrenches. I prefer using 3/8 torque wrench on everything but the mains , head bolts , flywheel and harmonic balancer I use 1/2'' . Everything else I tend to use a 3/8'' torque wrench if I can.

then i guess you never seen 1/4 drive and screw driver torque wrenches also. ;)
I have been using the Hammerhead here in country since I picked it up at SHOT. I like it. I even grabbed some for a couple associates of mine.
I'm tired of marred castle nuts and scracthed buffer tubes and am looking for a new wrench.
How does the Hammerhead tool fit into *most* extension nuts? My current wrench only has three lugs and it seems the main problem is that its lugs are too narrow to interface properly with the corresponding grooves in most available castle nuts. This poor fit allows the wrench to slide around when force is applied. This will invariably result in a marred nut and an occassional scratched tube.

The tool isn't laying flat in this pic, but there are four solid point of contact made.
