I am wanting to convert my G22 to a 9mm. Basically because it is cheaper to shoot. I have never used or been around anyone who has used a conversion barrel. Are they reliable? How is accuracy? What are the better brands?

Thanks guys

Is this something you plan on carrying and using to defend your life (God forbid) or just for plinking and practice?

If just for plinking and practice pick up a Lone Wolf conversion barrel and a couple of G17 magazines.

The Lone Wolf barrels are reliable and slightly more accurate than the OEM barrels (in my experience) but because of the case sizes and differences in ejectors between the 9mm & 40 cal. Glocks I don't find them reliable enought for SD.

Yes sir this is just for practice and plinking. On the rare chance that I decide to carry my G22 I would drop the .40 barrel back in.

Thanks for the reply

I'm not a huge fan of practicing with one caliber and carrying another. If you did want to carry 9mm full time I recommend you swap our the trigger housing assembly and the extractor. Still, I wouldn't say it would be 100% but it would be better than just running the barrel.

Here's the barrel I recommend: http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=971&CAT=241

Technically you need to change the barrel, extractor, trigger housing and spring loaded bearing. Also remember the breach face is not exactly the same for both calibers.

Its not that I am training with one and carrying another. My Glock has always just been a plinker. My EDC is a 1911.

Thank both of you guys for the info. Much appreciated

I have a bud who has barrels for both his G23 and G35, Storm Lake IIRC, but at any rate they have been 100% reliable after several thousand rounds.

I've had a Lone Wolf 9mm barrel for a few years now. I run it in my G23. It's never failed. I didn't change extractors. Just the barrel and mags.

I had the same question. I don't own a 9mm anymore. I pretty much talks myself into a G17. After the bbl for $110 and three mags for another $90 im half way to the price of a used gun or new one with the LE discounts they offer.

OP did you buy one? If so how well did it work?

For the money you'd spend to convert, I'd just sell the 22 and buy a new pr used 17.

Someone will be looking to dump their perfectly good Gen 3 so they can buy a Gen 4.

Then you can carry (or not) and practice with the same caliber.

But that's just my .02.

If I could find a G19 for $200 I'd be all over it. But I have not. So the $90 for the conversion barrel and mags works for me. Two calibers from the same pistol for an extra $90 is a bargain in my opinion.

i converted my G22 to a 9mm shooter just by changing the barrel and picking up a couple G17 mags. No problems at all. And i shot all kinds of crap ammo out of it(wolf, blazer, bear).

lone wolf for $120, couple mags for $60...

There is a few other conversion barrel makers that might be a little better then Lone wolf, but the price will go up with the quality.

BBL is $109 and mags are like$ 26 each. The G22 is my work gun. I own a G23 and G27
