I went deep sea fishing for the first time this past weekend. A good friend from work set up the trip with Dream Girl Charters, Oregon Inlet NC (http://www.dreamgirlcharters.com/reports/view_report.php?id=714). In short, it was a blast! I can count on one hand how many times I've been fishing, so I had no clue what to expect on this trip.
The morning started out at 0515, where we met our Captain and Mate:

we were underway for ~two hours before the captain was satisfied with the waters:

I drew the short straw and got to go after the first fish:

after what seemed like minutes, our mate Jimmy had two fish hooked - I jumped in the chair and started working on one, while my buddy Tim and mate Jimmy worked on the other:

As our mate Jimmy was getting her ready to bring in the boat, there was a lot of screaming, some huge splashes and then the fish was gone!

My tuna went bonkers, bent the hook and got away - at least they let me keep the hook:

Them's the breaks; I got out of the chair and let the gang fight the other fish we had on the line. It took three guys, and nearly two hours to land our first Blue Fin. My buddy Peterman was the lucky guy in the chair when it was all said and done:

Over the next few hours everyone got time in the chair and we managed to bring a total of four Blue Fin to the boat (due to size restrictions, we could only keep one):
