These are probably dumb questions, I'm a bit new at the carbine stuff.

Considering getting an LMT MRP CQB Carbine with a 16" barrel; is the CQB equivalent to a 7" handguard or a 9" handguard on a standard AR?
How about the rifle length MRP? What it that basically equivalent to? 12"?

Also, if you get the 16" barrel with the rifle length handguard are you still getting the mid-length gas system?

Is the Rifle Length MRP significantly heavier than the CQB? I haven't been able to find any info on the LMT rifles weight...

Thanks

The CQB model is like a 9" handguard and the rifle length is like 12" handguard. Yes if you order a rifle length model with a 16" barrel it will have a mid-length gas system. Here are the gas system lengths for the 5.56 caliber barrels.

10.5" - carbine gas system
14.5" - carbine gas system
16" - mid-length gas system
18" - mid-length gas system

I wouldn't say the rifle length is significantly heavier but you can tell a difference. If you plan to get one and think you may change back and forth between the piston system and DI you need to choose the CQB model. You cannot use the piston barrel setup with the rifle length model.

Rifle length MRP's are more like 14" rails rather than 12" rails.
