This release comes from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office:
Friday morning around 7:30 a.m. a homeowner at 14079 Calhoun Road in the Bennett Estates subdivision in East Montgomery County was awakend by his girlfriend who said that she believed that someone was in the home.
The homeowner armed himself and began to search the
residence. During the search he saw someone run across one of the rooms. Knowing the person was not his girlfriend the homeowner fired one time from his handgun.
The intruder was shot one time in the side.
The intruder was identified as the estranged boyfriend of the homeowner’s girlfriend.
The injured party was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital in Houston where he is in good condition.
How the suspect entered the home has not been determined.
Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes are investigating.
No charges have been filed against anyone involved and case facts will be forwarded to the District
Attorney’s Office when completed.
