I've had this A1 upper laying around for awhile. Just wandering what your thoughts are on what I should do with it. 20" maybe; or XM copy? Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Well, since it has a brass deflector, it wouldn't be a really good donor for an XM-177 project.

How about a Canadian C7 or C8?

Is it going to be sitting on an M16 lower? If it is, Id go the XM route, if not then Id base it on what lengths you already have.
Nothing to do with functionality or use but simply based on a personal observation that select-fire XM retro builds are not very common. I could be wrong though.

Like Templar said, there were no brass deflectors on the A1.

Colt made 723s (14.5" lightweight or M4 profile barrel- "M16A2" Carbines) and 733s (11.5" barrel with standard flash suppressor-Commandos) for The US Military with these uppers. There are also versions of Canadian Military rifles that used these uppers.
