Cool. Damn that is some big bar stock that little barrel comes out of.
that's neat that they do the slide out of a forging instead of just from bar stock. well aligned metal grain ftw

I always wanted to be able to go to a factory, watch a pistol being made, from start to finish, then be able to purchase the pistol I watched being made.
It's amazing to me the size of the barrel blank before the machining begins.

I'd love to go to the factory, just to watch the Hammer Forging Machine beat that barrel blank down into shape!

pretty sure the barrel is machined
looks like the turn the round part in a lathe, then grab the round part in a chuck and mill the chamber area/lug

The barrel and chamber are hammer-forged; the barrel to final contour but the exterior area around the chamber is left as is, then machined into shape by a CNC machine.
Awesome pictures.

You'd be there for quite some time if you truly wanted to go start to finish (i.e. what the pictures show, NNS slide forging -> final machined slide, etc). I get what you are saying though. Having worked in a gun factory (KAC) before...it's pretty cool stuff to see
I really want a USP 45 Stainless. If not the entire gun, just the slide.
Very cool pics though.
Very cool pics! Thanks for posting them up.
