I recently picked up an Ohio Rapid Fire Bulgarian AK-74S. My previous AK was a 1960 Polish build and I have an Ultimak mounted on it. I would like to put the Ulitmak on my 74 because it will become my primary long gun. The Ultimak is the model with gas ports. The 74's gas tube does not have gas ports. If I install my Ultimak with gas ports onto my 74 will it make the gun less reliable or have any effect on operation? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

It will probably have no effect at all. I can't speak for the 74, but AKs in 7.62 are generally overgassed and will even run with a large gap between the gas block and the tube. See the below for a demo:

Shouldn't have any problems.

IIRC, Templar runs a gas-vent ultimak on his Nightfighter with no problems. .
