I'm considering purchasing a rifle with a heavy 18 or 20 inch barrel, to be used on the range and for coyote hunting. I'm very impressed with what I've seen about the Noveske N4 SPR with the 18 inch barrel. Does anyone have any experience with this rifle, or recommendations on other options? Also, what sort of scopes and mounts would yall recommended?

I have an 18" Noveske barrel on my game gun.
With 75gr Prvi I am getting consistent 5 shot 1.5 MOA groups with a 3.5x TA11. I can't say that it is the only barrel caipable of that, but it does it performs within my expectations and surpasses my needs.
I have seen some really nice precision with BCM 16" BFH barrels as well, and intend on using one on my next upper.

As far as optics go, there are lots of choices, and the Optics sub-forum has a plethora of discussions on precision optics for such needs.

A noveske 18" intermediate SPR barrel is flat out one of the finest TACK DRIVERS out there....GTG in that respect:)

You need to define perhaps your budget for glass as you can potentially and with rather ease eclipse the price of the upper with the glass purchase.

Considering that a Noveske SPR upper is fine china....i assume you will be somewhat matching the glass in quality/price. If that is the case.....imho, get a NF compact model and be done with it. An alternative for that SPR would be a nice Leupy mk 4 2.5-8 or 3.5-10 or a IOR 2-12x32 SF w. mp8 reticule.

A bit less in price, check out a Accupoint tr-22 3-9 or even a little more less, a leupy Mark AR 3-9.

I have a N4 Recce Basic with a Geissele SSA Trigger that I have a 1x Burris scope on. Today, I shot 2.25" 10-shot group at 100 yards today with Fiocchi 77gr Match Kings. I've got a friend that shoots 3" 10-shot groups with an Aimpoint T-1 4MOA red dot sight. I used his rifle and T-1 and shot a 5.5" 29-shot group.

I mentioned this because I think the Noveske 14.5" to 16" SS barrels will shoot circles around the CL barrels above, so why get a heavy & long gun when a shorter SS barrel will probably do what you want plus serve as a fighting rifle?? I just think its "funner" to have compact, light and accurate. But if you want to squeeze all the velocity out...you'll need a longer barrel.

I definitely recommend the Geissele SSA.:D

Although it is not an 18 or 20 inch barrel, the Noveske Recon barrel on this rifle is 16" and extremely accurate. If you are looking for a Noveske 20" barrel it may be difficult to locate. I spoke with a Noveske representative some months ago and was told that it was a limited run item. Member Molon does have one, so perhaps he will chime-in shortly.

All I can say is that I own two rifles with the 5.56 stainless barrels and they are both very accurate. One thing to keep in mind is that the 16" barrel with a vortex flash hider (FH) is roughly 18 inches, so if you decide to purchase the 18" barrel depending on your FH selection it will end-up being roughly 20 inches in length.

For target shooting/ coyote hunting, I don't believe that the length of the barrel will be that critical, but it will affect the velocity of the rounds. I don't recall the publication, but in a magazine article John Noveske commented on the fact that one of his most consistently accurate barrels was the 12.5 Crusader Stainless steel model. If I recall correctly "barrel harmonics" (short tube and a lesser amount of flex) were cited as the likely result of the high degree of accuracy.

As I am no expert, I will defer to members such as Molon and others with greater experience when it comes to accuracy/ testing.

With my rifles, depending on the ammunition used it is not uncommon for groups at 50 yards with several rounds going into practically the same hole. I have just started shooting more paper targets at 100 and 200 yards, but have not yet dialed-in the optics. In addition, I noted early-on that my stainless Noveske barrels seem to favor Hornandy TAP rounds. I recently acquired several hundred rounds of the .223 75gr TAP rounds and wanted to hold-off on firing for groups on paper until I was able to acquire some of this ammunition. Finally, I want to use an optic with higher magnification as well in order to see what the barrels are capable of at distances out to 200-300 yards.

I will close in saying that I have purchased several Noveske products, spoken with the owner John Noveske, and several of his employees and found them all to be very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I am a very satisfied customer and could not recommend their products highly enough.

Last week I sighted in my Noveske Recce with my ACOG Compact TA50-4 on it.

At 200 yards, in the wind, with a 3x scope, and using ammo that the rifle wasnt sighted for (Hornady 75grn Match, sighted for 55 FMJ) I did 3.85" for a five shot group.

I am certian that the rifle shoots way better than that.

What Im trying to say is that any of the Noveske barrels will get you accuracy.

In my opinion, that is what makes the Noveske Recces with the cold hammer forged barrels so great. You have a rifle that can meet most AR applications.

Noveske SPR w/ VIS 3 NF 2.5X10X32 (yes, there is a reason scope is mounted that way, if you don't know you should talk w/ La Rue)

Would not change a thing.

Thanks for the responses yall, it's good to hear about your setups and see the photos as well. Hoploethos, did you paint the barrel? I saw that the barrel comes as bead blasted ss, but I would prefer something darker for hunting coyotes.

Does that setup allow you to shoot with your stock fully extended?

OP:
I have found that the Larue Stealth is an exceptionally accurate rifle that will shoot with the best of them. Worth a look.
