Could someone tell me what H buffer or maybe Spikes' 4.3 oz. buffer, they are using in their rifle. I'm going to receive my Cmmg 14.7 socom upper after almost a year (June 2nd 09). Currently i have a standard carbine buffer in my lower. Also, did anyone change out their recoil springs? Just wanted to see what worked for others with a similar rifle. Thanks.

I'd recommend a H2. CMMG typically have bigger gas ports vs. the milspec standard (.0625") for CAR length gas systems.

I put an H2 buffer in my CMMG upper (16" carbine) and it runs fine with all ammo I have tried including light reloads and commercial .223. The recoil was pretty sharp when using a standard carbine buffer.

Thanks for the info, this confirms what I thought. I received a email from CMMG inc. about the gas port, it's .073 diameter.

My CMMG came with the H2 - works great. It runs with the CAR buffer, but out of all the ones I've tried, the H2 weight works great all around, and the DD Powder and Spike's H2 units are the most attractive.

Holy crap, that is huge! Should be .063.
