View Full Version : Please help me choose.. It's driving me nuts!!
Ok... So I'm ready to purchase my second evil black rifle :D
I have (and absolutely love) an LMT Piston MRP.
I'm struggling to decide what to get next.
Do I get a second identical LMT Piston MRP going with the 1 is none, 2 is 1 theory with the ultimate of interchangeability?
Do I get an LMT .308 for a little caliber variety?
Do I go with a real nice BCM DI, for variety Within the same caliber?
Or LMT DI?
Noveske DI?
Dang!!! It's like endless!! It's a sickness!! :D:D
Any advice with reasoning would not only be helpful but really appreciated.
Just my opinion, but since you have a nice 5.56 weapon, I would look at a .308 platform for my next build/purchase.
What I do is to keep everything simple. I keep rifles in 5.56, handguns: Glocks in 9mm and 1911's in .45. I would get another 5.56 and set it up differently. Like one with an aimpoint and another with a 1x4 variable scope. Just my opinion.
LMT DI SOPMOD in 5.56 or
LMT 308 if you can find it- Good Luck.
if your going with a .308, id look into a nice FAL(DSA makes a nice FAL .308). I think you really cant goes with a Noveske, i own a basic N4 Noveske and its been a dream to shoot.

Ive already got about all the 5.56's I'll ever need in a mix of brands. That said my main project for this year is one of BCM's SAM-R's with the Vltor A5 stock.
Im also feeling the need to have a DD 6.8.
Once you go MRP, you don't ever go back brother.....
MRP SPR & MRP RECON..... MWS .308 is inbound and hot and will be used mostly to babysit the MRPs:D

Short barrelled 5.56 LMT Piston.
It would be easier for the board to help you if we knew what need you're trying to meet. BRD has many mutations. Just sayin'!

Noveske DI is as good as it gets IMO. Now if I could only afford one myself...
Thanks everone… I'm really leaning toward the LMT .308.. But I am not a patient man, and if I pay now, I want to receive now.
As far as my "needs" are concerned.. I don't necessarily feel like I have an immediate "need" for a new rifle. That being said I would have some extra comfort in a SHTF situation if I had an extra AR or AR variant in the tool box.
For Home defense, while I would prefer to have the AR more accessible, I instead have a Sig 229, in a quick access bedside safe for "bumps in the night".

The world isn't ending tomorrow. Relax and buy what you want.

lol… I'm no SHTF worrier. I was just saying that if I HAD to come up with a reason to NEED another gun, that would be my only at least marginally (though, not at all realistic IMO) justifiable reason to say I NEEDED another rifle. :D:D:D
No stress here.. just having fun. ;)

If this is only rifle #2, then any of your choices in 5.56
Thus mags, etc are compatible.
Kind of the 2-is-1 if not in detail.
Presently all my uppers and lowers are interchangeable.
The .308 sure seem like candy … after 2-is-1 then I'd say get one if you can actually afford to shoot it.
If you can't, why bother?
