well I ran my first match yesterday with the new 4x in a flip mount behind my 553......

I also got my hands of a pre production 555 to Abuse. (it is a 553 that uses AA).

Nice glass bright, soild a bit heavy but oh well. mount are soild and very easy to use paddle need to be a tad bit bigger for more area to hit on a gamming rifle but on a duty gun its good as is

Did you switch back and forth to/from the magnifier on the clock at all?

I still have yet to figure out the attraction to the various magnifiers (Aimpoint or Eotech) for my purposes, but I'm sure there must be a need somewhere.

Yes I have Rob, i have used both hands to do so in drills and matches using support hand and strong hand, I choose to use support hand.

it works well for postive ID of targets and mass confused hostage shots in games. i have used it(ap model) on woodchucks yotes and other critters.

I have loaned it out to members of my PD and others. for duty use when sitting on outside looking in (NON carry binos),.

Zeroing is much easier. at 25 yds....LOL

and since i dont use acog's (not my cup of tea) i liked the options of having both a boosted system and heads up system.

i have a 557 also and you need a 3x or 4x to really see the dot seperation and use it for distance as well.

What's the difference between a 555 and a 557? Side mounted buttons? Don't they both use ARMS levers and AAs?

555 has arms levers and regular button placement to rear. using AA and captured battery hood,.

557 has a hump cut out. to clear d-ring, side operation controls and a BDC to 600yds/meters and runs off AA

Steve do you have the weights for the 557, 3x and 4x magnifiers including the mount?

Steve

Nope i sure dont,, I know the 4x is heavy but not that bad..... I am not humping the carbine over 20 miles of somethingstan terrian...YET.

weight isnt a big issue to me it goes from vehicles to lockers to home to range etc.....

The 3x is about the same as my 3x and sampson from aimpoint...

I guess i could get some weights of them but i might make myself get crazy over it..... i will see what i can do.
the 4x is heavier due to body and dual lens.
